  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hyundai charges $300 for flush and $600 for what? Dippy service advisor couldn’t tell me.

Have you tried calling any other dealerships?

Sounds like a 60 k service for about $900. In addition to trans fluid they flush & replace coolant, clean throttle body, change oil and filter and check everything else (brakes etc). If your transmission is balky nd you want to drive it while you wait for it to go out, be careful of the reflash. My 2012 3.8 sedan (61,000 miles) was showing bad signs (slip on upshifts once in a while, slightly hard downshifts sometimes) but it was driveable. Got fluid flush and Reflash made it undriveable - big slip then huge bang into 4th/5th gear - bad for u-joints at least, hard enough to tear out rear eventually). Awaiting reman tranny from Hyundai under warranty.

Is the 8-speed in the older Gens the same as newer models? Mine seems fine & refined, it's a '19.

The 2012 was the first year for the 8 speed. I believe the first half year or so they were made by Aisin (Hyundai part number 45000-4f050). So many were bad that a lot of these were replaced under warranty. Eventually they went to a ZF transmission which is better (p/n 45000-4f070). Newer years are string, bet yours is rock solid. Most of what I know about Gen 1 I picked up here on this great forum before I joined today - kudos to Sal.).. Love Hyundai - great company.

Hi, I have the 2012 3.8 with the 8 speed. What problems or symptoms should I be aware of for this unit. To be clear, I love the way it shifts and have had no problems. But do plan to do a proactive flush in the coming weeks. Car has 75K miles, I'm the original owner and like to keep it for another 8 years
