  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

How does one erase all personal information and history in the car and return to factory default? In case of sale or major damage leading to insurance salvage?

The main concern is the navigation locations and phone contacts. Both these have been answered in recent threads so you may find them with a search. It is outlined in the DIS manual
Deleting Address Book
1. Press [Menu] > [Delete] in address book
list.
2. Select the desired item, then press [Delete].
• [Delete]: Deletes the selected items.
• [Delete All]: Deletes all items.
• [Unmark All]: Unmarks all items.
• [Cancel]: Exits delete screen.

There is no return to default for electronic choices and history in a general way, similar to a computer (erase) and phone (return to default)?

Aside from phone and navigation destinations, what do you want to do? I don't think your seat position is secretive.

All or most of the items controlled through the headunit and screen. Also driving history though that may have been transmitted to Hyundai, though nonetheless. Delete my use of the vehicle so the next user, or salvagor has clean vehicle.

Good question for a write off vehicle. My G70 is currently in police impound and has been written off. The battery was dead when I went to get personal belongings out, so I couldn't even reset anything. But if someone fixed it, started it up, they could navigate to my house and open my garage... I am going to talk to the insurance company about that one...

There’s a story here....

Something to think bout in your next car. On mine, if you press "Home" on navigation it will take you to an empty field about a half mine from my house. On my last car it would take you to the police station. Close is good enough.

I had to bring a spare battery to the junkyard to retreive the CD's from the CD changer on a totaled car of mine they had.

Can't wait to hear it either....

Just change your garage code. Problem solved!

so what do you want to reset? You can delete saved garage codes...IIRC, it's buttons 1 and 3 for 30 seconds.

There is and it is coming, but not until I have cashed the insurance cheque and have the replacement vehicle in my garage... Hopefully soon.

Smart move on both counts. I do the same, but it is a bit closer to home than that

Doubt that would work though, with a dead battery like he said he had.

The open field is because no mapping software has my street yet. The police station was just in case my car was stolen and they tried to get to my house it would be a F U when they got there.

Have you used the reset to default?

Setup, system info, default
