If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis GV80 Pictures

Going over the pics again, I have to say it's stunning. I was driving along side a Bentley B yesterday and I honestly don't love the look of it. I'm a Bentley lover, but in pics at least, I like the look of this better from all angles. Looking forward to the podcast tonight at 8pm eastern standard time.

Meh, looks like yet another vanilla SUV. And what is up with that hideous 1970s steering wheel? I was hoping for something way more stunning and different than all the other SUVs on the market. Nothing groundbreaking here unfortunately. Sorry, just my opinion. The german SUVs, heck even the stunning new lincolns look better unfortunately.

It looks like a mashup between a ford, mazda, and a Cadillac. At least it has ambient lighting which will hopefully carry over to the sedans.

Lol you are just a hater, Check your outdated blind eyes lol. This is one of the best looking SUV.

Just my honest opinion. Not everyone is going to share the same opinion which is a fact of life. That's the problem with society these days. People are attacked if they share a different viewpoint.

As for the SUV, I was hoping I'd like it because my wife is shopping for a lux SUV. I really like my G70 3.3T (dealerships suck tho) but the new design direction with the split lights and mazda like grill is unfortunate.

Since this seems to be a love it only thread, I'm out.

I passed a Lincoln on the highway. From the back end it reminded me of a hearse.

I do agree on one thing. If you lined up every SUV on the market, from 25 yards you can't tell them apart unless you look at the grill from the front. And why are 98% of them black?

I walk by a brand new GLE everyday and its hideous in comparison to the GV80, the X5 and Q7 look virtually identical to its past 3 iterations. I'm not sure where in the world you get "Vanilla" from, its the furthest thing from anything on the market.

It's easy to say you don't like it. Subjective, and that's fine. To say it's vanilla takes away from any credibility and makes you seem like a hater. Nothing is vanilla about this car.

I've shown the pics and video's to most of my friends and my wife. Not one has said they hate anything about it. Some have a few nit picks (as do I), but overall they really like it. To say the interior is vanilla is even more egregious. There if very little about it that's vanilla. You may not like it, but vanilla it isn't.

Do you also get the choice of flat paints in the other SUV's you seem to like better? It's not for everyone. Glad you like the G70. You seem to be a true sedan guy, so maybe that's your true beef. It's all good though.

Lol, talk about haters... personal attacks against someone who has a different opinion than you. That's a hater. My opinion was about the vehicle, not those who like it. Since I am obviously the adult in the room, my response to you is, this: good for you, I'm glad you like it. We can agree to disagree. Do you set fire to every magazine article review that offers a negative review that you disagree with? The #how-dare-you-criticize-something-I-like mentality these days is getting old. Guess what? It's ok to have and express different views. No safe space needed, it will be ok.

Also, no, I'm not a "sedan" guy. I am an enthusiast who happens to like a wide variety of vehicle types and brands. I've had all types of cars, trucks, and SUVs from classic cars, hot rods, sports cars, muscle cars, sedans, motorcycles, you name it. I currently own a RAM truck, custom g70 3.3t, rav4 hybrid for long trips, an LS3 powered 56 chevy, and a Triumph cafe racer.

But, who cares? Like what you like, buy what you like, drive what you like.

I never said the interior was boring. I like the interior except for the hideous 1970s style steering wheel. No idea what they were thinking. That thing is an abomination.

It’s the way you come across. Your negative comments are very broad...and seem to be too common. A lot of your comparisons are far fetched...too vague.

You have to admit the vehicle is unique...you cannot summarize it against others as you have.

It is unique...no doubt about it.

Example...there’s a reason for that steering wheel. There’s more info to be seen. The streering wheel allows for a better view of the digital dash. It also allows for better hand positions...10-2 and otherwise.

I personally think the front/back are unique and kill it. The interior is superior than anything out there!

The tech is insane.

Just saying.

Cgo - the issue is your verbiage. Don't use the descriptor "vanilla" if you don't know what it means. If you said you didn't like it, no one would call you a hater. Any many would agree with you. But.... the GV80 is not 'ordinary' / plain in its overall design in any way.

Thanks for helping clarify my post guys. It’s not an excuse, but I don’t have filters anymore and often times my posts come off as mean or rude. I am very easy going and never mean for things to be taken out of the context I meant.

Be it cars or high and audio or sports, I have great passion and love the forums. It’s a great outlet on days that I can’t leave the house. MS sucks, but it’s still a large part of me and no matter how I come across I won’t give into it and stop posting because I come offas a jerk at times.

I fully understand when someone feels attacked by a post and I fully understand being attacked back. More than fair since no one here knows me. Hopefully in time you guys will come to understand me better so that we can all have open discourse on fun topics.

it was stated earlier that the gist of my post was that ME and everyone else I speak with about this car (well over 50 friends), no one sees vanilla. A few didn’t like it at first, but nearly all have come to like or even love the design.

my best friend was about to get the Bentley He’s had a few in the past, but he loves this from what I’ve shared. His wife drives a fully loaded, designo Mercedes GLE 63 Coup.
It’s always personal taste and I never ever want to make anyone feel that I don’t respect them.

I’m sorry to said poster that I offended you and made you feel that what I said was a personal attack. That was never even in my mind. I am a grown man and can always live up to mistakes etc.... no excuses as what I posted could easily be construed as an attack against the poster and again I’m sorry you took it that way. Pete

"the GV80 is not 'ordinary' / plain in its overall design in any way..." You see the problem with your arguement right? That is your opinion! Guess what? Not everyone shares your opinion. I think it is boring. Neither are right or wrong.

I'm not the one who doesnt know what vanilla means in the context I used it in. Not sure where you arrived at the idea that I didnt know what it meant. Have you never read a car review that described a design as "vanilla"? Its actually used quite often that way. Vanilla = bland and boring. Yes, in my opinion it is a boring design. Again, this is a public forum where folks should be encouraged to share their opinions, not bashed for having differing ones. I didnt see a disclaimer on the thread stating only those who like the GV may express their opinion.

Cheers!

I didn't say there wasnt a purpose to the steering wheel design. Besides, I dont see how adding a bottom spoke like on the G70, reduces visibility. My opinionated critique was solely based on the design aspects, not functionality. There are many designs that put function first over form and are ugly. Again, beating a dead horse, but it is just my opinion that it is ugly in a regressive, 1970s way.

I also didnt knock the tech. I think the tech, drivetrain, interior (minus the wheel), and value are fantastic. I'm just not impressed with the looks of the GV80. Was hoping for a more groundbreaking design.

Lots of great pics!

Has anyone seen a picture of the 3rd row, or even a shot of the rear with the hatch open? Curious how much room there is for storage and people.
Also, has anyone seen a hitch on any?

its the online community my friend; you could say the most benign thing and someone will take personal offense to it and attack you. I wouldn’t sweat it. It doesn’t sound like you were saying anything offensive

I for one, l like the design of it, except for few little things, I can say the GV80 is not perfect, in fact we can find something wrong on every SUV's, here are the small things I don't like after watching several youtube videos

The D-pillar window: Don't like the way it rises up like a pyramid, especially when sitting in the 3rd row, you have no visibility (I find it would have looked better on a smaller suv like the GV70) It's personal to me, I prefer the D-pillar window on the X5, Q7, Range Rover sport, XC90, heck even the Jeep grand cherokee. Brings more light into the car

Height/3rd row: I feel at 67.5 inch tall, they shouldn't have offered a 3rd, every video I have seen so far, you can clearly see there is no headroom whatsoever back there. Every competitor in that segment offer better headroom and that's a fact. I find 2 inches taller would have provived more headroom for the 3rd row and given the suv a little more road presence (not that it does not) but would have felt more aggressive kinda like range rover sport to name one. Again my opinion

Interior: I really do not like the empty space under the center console, the opening is so awkwardly place, you guys can check it out on youtube videos, when you actually sit, you block that space, depending on how tall you are, you will also block it with the seat. Not a big deal, I just wanted to point that out

Sport version: I know Genesis mentioned it is not a priority right now, but they seriously need to provide a GV80 sport. I for one hate the steering wheel, with a GV80 sport, they can provide a sport steering wheel, I pretty much want them to do what they did with the G80 sport, apply it on the GV80 and you have a winner.

So all this is to show yes I love the car, but I am able to have in objective view about it and know everyone here is able to. There's fierce competition in that segment, some good, some bad, are the things I mentioned a deal breaker? NO, in fact as soon as my f15 X5 is done, I will definitely take a serious look at the GV80

I think they had to offer the 3rd row. Without it, some people would not even go to the showroom to look at it, sale lost. Now you still won't make the sale as the transport for the basketball team but the couple with a 5 and 7 year old, it may be perfect back there.

As for the sport, they needed to get to market and the Sport should not hold it up but agree, they do need one. Sooner the better.

I agree on the sport also. I will probably lease if the terms make sense. One of the posters made me look into it more closely. This way I can get a sport in three years if they go that route or just re-examine what’s new in a few years.

No car is perfect. I don’t need a third row but I want a fully loaded one and that maybe the only way to get the SUV.

WIth the third row seating, you lose a spare tire (most probably an inflatable one). I'd rather have the tire and not pay the 1k for the third row, but we all know how this will work out, lol. What do the other premium brands offer IRT a third row. Is it standard or optional? I've never even looked before.
