  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Almost 12k G70s sold in the US in 2019

The back seat is on the smaller side but hardly unusable. I drive family around a couple times a week with no issue. True, no one tall goes in the back but still works.

I guess that's why it's classified as a small sports sedan. 🙂

If I am driving it is definitely unusable. Front seat touches rear seat.

My wife and I will be replacing her WRX pretty soon with a small SUV. Looking at the Kia Seltos, specifically.

I don't like SUV's, but I understand the utility and usefulness of them. We can go camping with some minor offroading, plenty of room with the backseats and hatch, and my wife likes being a little higher up while driving so she can see things even better. We don't plan on towing anything, but I could see the possibility arising some day.

I don't think we'll ever get a large SUV, as we both prefer smaller cars. Even so, it's too bad that most Americans are trending towards such obese monstrosities. I think because of this we just don't have as many options to accomplish those same things with other cars, like wagons and hatchbacks. Oh well.

I just recently convinced my wife away from a SUV and into a hatchback. It can be done!

Maybe it's true that the Genesis brand would have been more successful in the US if they focused more on their SUV line up first but the G70 gives them more credibility.

Separating the brand from Hyundai by focusing first on a small sports sedan that can break its rear wheels easily and smokes a lot of other competitors gave the brand a better image and a lot of praise and publicity. Just like what the mustang does for Ford and the WRX did for Subaru.

I watched a bit of the Sunday Genesis Open golf tournament on tv yesterday. One of the closing holes had a Mallorca Blue G70 on a pad in a prominent camera position easily seen when players step away from the tee. From Riviera Club, Los Angeles. It looked great against the green of the course. Well chosen.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I do agree with you @nellie1289 but so much of the people moving to SUV's is for virtually no reason. They don't tow, they don't need the space, they just want something up high. When I was single I only drove 2 doors and and since kids only 4 door sedans. My wife has always liked driving an SUV and we own a trailer so that obviously works well for me to continue my love affair with sedans.

What bothers me is same platform with same engine, where one is a sedan and the other is an SUV - the SUV will:

1. Be slower
2. Use more fuel
3. Handle worse
4. Cost way more
5. Look worse (okay that is my general opinion...)

So I just don't get why so many people make that choice.

The G70 I test drove at Genesis of South Bay on Sunday was a 2019 Mallorca Blue Sport with ~5K miles on it. It was used as one of the show cars at last year's Genesis Open. If it wasn't for the color, I think I would be a proud G70 owner today.

My 2017 Denali yukon xl burns less fuel than the g70. Not kidding

Haha, I believe it. My current tank is averaging 13mpg right now.... Or is it 12? Lol. I don't know.
If you want your best chance for a g70 sighting look for us at the Costco gas aisle. Regularly there !

I'll never understand it. Helped sell plenty of couples/women full-sized SUVs when I worked for Hyundai, but whenever I asked what they would be hauling they couldn't name anything other than groceries or a dog. "Well, I should get a hitch just in case". I owned 1 of each SUV by Hyundai and hated driving every single one.

But then that's probably why I'm here talking as a G70 owner and not in the Palisade forum.

Also, yes, the uniqueness is nice. I never get the standard iPhones, or the standard cookie cutter BMW or whatever. It's bad when I would walk out of the store and not know which Santa Fe was mine.
