  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi,

I plan on buying an imported 2015 2016 G80 5.0 or 3.8 2015 US/CAN specs in the Gulf region (expat)

there is a "urban legend" here about GCC vs American/Canadian specs. That the GCC specs are offering larger radiators, stronger AC, specific air filters, paint etc....
Why would I prefer to buy a North America specs car ? They are loaded, much higher level of options and cheaper.

I can't get any kind of information I mean real info about the volume of the radiator mesh size of the filter air box, AC

Hyundai does not reply and here the car shops owners are pathetic they sell car but they don't have a clue about what they are doing.

I hope some of you will have an answer

Thank you,
Hugh

I'm located in the State of Washington and please excuse my lack of knowledge of your area but is it that much different than Texas, Phoenix or Vegas? Genesis seems to do well in all parts of the U.S.

Gulf region (expat) = Middle East. Much different than Texas, Phoenix and definitely different than Sin city Vegas ;)

You could try searching online for GCC replacement parts versus American/Canadian replacement parts to see if the part numbers are different.

I've used Hyundai Parts - Genuine OEM Hyundai Parts and Accessories Online for my U.S. spec. G80.

I am trying to find the references for the GCC parts number, but I feel a little bit like trying to crack the Da Vinci code. I think that the local retailer are trying to protect their business here. Imagine if it were known from everyone than in fact these US cars are similar to the GCC ones. Or even to have the ability to buy some "conversion kits" for let say 800 USD then every smart guy would drive a second hand imported car from North America. Would be great even in America to have the possibility to mount a Mishimoto upgrade on the G80s

Spot on BubbaG80sport, from April till October it is hardcore. average temperature 113 degrees, relative humidity 80-90. Tough for the cooling system, transmission, AC. Having said that there is quite a significant number of Genesis mainly G80 with US/CAN specs around. I just want to be sure I am not running ahead of tons of problems regarding the maintenance (spare parts availability) and premature aging of the engine by buying an "import G80"

some of the hottest days in Arizona could be considered as "cool" during the summer in the Gulf. And in Addition to that the relative humidity can be quite high, more than what you can get in Miami during the summer for example.

Good point. I think Hyundai (and Genesis, and Kia, by default) tests its cars in summer in Death Valley, CA. Don't think it gets hotter than that, even in the middle east. And even if it does, maybe a degree or two. The deal is to know if different market cars have different (as beefier) components or not. Porsche does (middle auxiliary radiator, for example, that my GTS had it), but only includes them in higher trim levels (GTSs and above).

I'm curious now if Hyundai does that, but Hyundai has very few trims, and without options, so I really doubt they have such a difference. It'd be more expensive than just making all their cars the same (with the exception of RHD), for all markets. And less warranty claims, which having 10/100, it only makes sense they are. Therefore, my bet is cars are the same, but let's see what the experts say :D.

I thought the same as you, it would cost too much to have specific parts for this, in fact, small GCC market. And when they talk about air filtration they make me laugh. I haven't seen any sedan with a Snorkel !!! Neither did I see any GCC filter with specific mesh size..... I am, as well, looking forward to genuinely hear some experts
