Hoping someone can educate me on what this “switch” is behind the front grille? I just noticed it today and wondering what it is.

I've been digging through the FSM to find something, and I'm not quite sure... The closest thing that I think it might be some sort of condenser temp sensor or ambient air temp sensor...



...in the above picture, it labels it as "evaporator temperature sensor", but the evaporator is located in the cabin, the condenser is in the front sandwiched between the radiator and the oil cooler. When I pulled up the .PDF for the evaporator temperature sensor, it shows a totally different sensor located on the actual evaporator itself, which is to be expected. Thus my assumption that it may have something to do with the condenser.

I also noticed the mention of an ambient air temp sensor, but I have no idea where that is. Thus my random guess that maybe that's what this sensor is...

It looks like an electrical connector attached to a bracket.

I’m assuming all the G70s have this?

It’s an ambient air temp sensor. I write estimates on cars with these all the time.
