  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My 2016 Genesis Sedan has an interesting problem. This morning when I got in my garage, I noticed that my wipers we’re going with my car turn off. I backed the car in my driveway, turned off the car, the wipers kept going. I had to take out the windshield wiper fuse in order to get them to stop.

When I put the fuse in, they start right up again, even with the car off. So now I can drive the car only if it is not raining or put the fuse in if I have to drive in the rain. The wipers will operate only are normal, will not go to fast or intermittent mode.

Any help with this problem will be appreciated. Thank you.

My guess would be a bad wiper switch. I believe that you would have to remove the steering wheel to replace it.

I think that this is suspect, since they are operating with the "key" off. Turning the switch on with the [smart] key off does not cause them to operate normally.

I agree but maybe not the switch. There is a short in the wiring somewhere giving it power.

Like I said in the other (duplicate) thread, it's going to be a bad wiper motor module. You'll need a dealer tool to verify though.

Not quite. The wiper motor assembly has power all the time.

I guess I don’t understand then. If it has power all the time then why doesn’t it run all the time?

Because the module electronics get signals from the rest of the car to know when the car is "on" and when the wipers should be on and at what speed and so on. This is true of a lot of things.

I get it. The module has power but the actual motor itself doesn’t always.

The motor is powered by the module. In many cases (not sure about this car) the module is built into the motor.

Not a cheap part, I would interrogate the BCM output status to verify the wiper motor assembly is being commanded off.
