Using a tiny remote, I can open and close the valve with the press of a button, giving me a much deeper, louder, fuller sound, or going back to stock. This literally takes 30 min to install at a garage (two cuts + welding per pipe) and the wires can be passed through the trunk very easily then connected directly to the battery.
I kept seeing only people with V8s modifying their exhausts and trying to make it sound nice, but here's what the 3.8L V6 sounds like if you just bypass the muffler in the back. If anyone was wondering, the stock pipes are 2.5" (it was hard for me to confirm this before buying the parts). Everything else is stock and to me this is more than loud enough, it has nice detail to the sound, no muted areas in the rev range, and a bit of crackle/pop as it revs down around 1200 RPM parked or 2500 RPM while driving. It's made the car way more fun to drive at low speeds while still allowing me a super quiet ride when I want it.
