  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just picked up a 2020 G70 and after taking it home and getting it into the garage I noticed this dull spot on the hood. You can definitely feel it running your fingers over the spot. I tried buffing it out, but I don't think the spot is getting any smaller. Any thoughts on if it's something I can fix myself? Contact the dealer? Thanks in advance.

It was on the car when you bought it? I'd let the dealer know right away and let them deal with it. Most dealers have detail guys that would know what to do to correct it.

Are you sure it wasn't the reflection of your face on the hood😁

J/K of course😀, I couldn't resist with that thread title.

My G70 had a spot on right side of front bumper that you could see the primer thru the black. I went to local dealer, not who I bought it from, and they had no problem repairing under warranty. Only problem was they intended to have a lot lizard spot refinish it. I went to war with them over it, Finally the agreed to let me take it to their body shop, where I knew the all the guys, and the cover was removed, repaired, refinished and reinstalled. Excellent job. Just be careful how repairs are done. You do not want a detail guy spraying color and blending clear on your hood, it will "ring out" and show really bad in a few years. Stand your ground.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Can you take a picture outside, because from the inside it looks like a lot of stuff is reflecting (garage door opener...)

It‘s almost impossible to see outside, I don’t think I would be able to capture it on a photo outside. I’ve circled the spot if that helps.

How long did that process take? The closest Genesis dealer that I bought the car from is not that “close”. I wonder if my local Hyundai dealer will look at it.

You would be provided a loaner during repairs, this is a warranty item. Repair time for me I dropped it off as they opened on tuesday, car was done before quitting time on Wednesday. I let it cure for a week and buffed it using Pure Polish only, NO WAX. Then after 3 more weeks I once again buffed with Pure Polish and then wiped down with Eraser and applied Cquartz Ceramic Coating. Looks excellent, No evidence of any repairs are evident.
I doubt that the Hyundai dealer would handle, but it wouldn't hurt to ask them. Definitely have the Body Shop of the dealer inspect the damage, this is not something a service guy has any knowledge of. Trust me there, when I initially went in to show them, Service guy said "No Problem" paint guy is out back now. Instant red flag, indicates a service guy thinks it OK to paint in open air on a sunny breezy day. Body shop mgr called service manager and explained repairs and service guy apologized and said sorry, I had no idea. Do not let repair time affect how it will be repaired, Lot Lizard repairs always suffer in quality.

Be careful the dealer doesn't repaint the entire hood. Losing the factory paint would be a problem for me. Ask the dealer to replace the vehicle, go up the management change if needed.

Replace the vehicle just for that! Yeah, right, good luck with that!

I have done in the past. I had water spots on brand new car. Dealer said he could take them off. I said do not create swirls on the hood. Well when I went to pick up, they were swirls all over the hood. GM said what can we do to make this right, I said an exact replacement. Done deal. Keep in mind a customer expects a flawless delivery on a brand new car. The car mentioned above is flawed, therefore don't accept it!

If another car of the same color was available would have been easier to swap hoods.
