  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I see that hyundai does not sell a sunshade for the genesis. I tried my old one from bmw built for the 3 series but no surprise it was too small. I wonder if anyone has found a good sunshade for our cars. I was thinking a e class or s class may fit well. Last I saw they did not say mercedes or anything, unlike the bmw sunshades. Or maybe a non car maker shade works well.

Thanks

I found that a Sunshade really does not keep the interior cooler and that the really good thing about them is to keep the sun off the dash. Many years ago, I got tired of using a sunshad every time I got in the car, then removing it when I got out. so.............

That is when I started using a Dashmat. Dashmats protect the dash from cracking and I've been using them for many years now. Cost is minimal. I got mine from MrDashmat www.mrdashmat.com as they were the first to offer one for the Genesis, however by now, there are probably others that offer them. In addition, if you do order one, my advice is to order it in Black. Do not order a lighter color, as it may reflect in your windshield. I ordered the Dark Brown, which works OK, but I should have ordered Black.

Just keep in mind that the type that have foil in them have been known to interfere with the TPMS sensor radio signals. In the summer I don't fold it and just toss it in the back seat. My TPMS light would come on intermittently, no rhyme or reason. I couldn't figure out why this was happening. I took the sunshade out of the car, and the light hasn't come on since.

Doesn't it seem counterproductive to order black? Black will absorb heat and potentially transfer (or at a minimum, trap) the heat between the dash mat and the dash itself.

Never had this happen since I started using DashMats, back around 1983. The direct sunlight is what cracks the dash, not the heat, if any, under the mat. As for absorbing heat, that MAY be true, but I get in the car, start it up, and the car cools down right away. I don't even think about how hot the inside of the car is. Using a shield on the windshield is not going to keep the car any cooler, at least not cooler than you can feel.
