I have to wonder if they changed policy. Perhaps download is still free but if you want the car you pay for that plus shipping. I guess it is fair but we've been spoiled.

Huh. You guys are right. No longer able to get it for free... Maybe they just covered the first one and that's it? Oh well. Looks like I got spoiled as well.

Bummer if we can’t get free SD cards anymore. I have yet to update from what came stock from the factory. The revision history with updates on exactly what changes took place outside of the maps, POI, shopping and restaurant changes has not impressed me. Improvements and refinements of the look, feel or how I maneuver around on the screen are going to be impacted, I want to know specifics. I only have a Mac Air with SD card slot so hope the update process will work on Macs OK if I decide to update my existing card once available.

I may just buy a blank card so I don't have to overwrite my existing one (like I did last time). Looks like they're pretty cheap.

The old SD card is worthless. Once you stick the new one in and it starts the process you can no longer use the old... Will only accept the new software.

If I recall, last year the update was unavailable for Mac which is why I went for the new card at that time. Download to windows only.

I have a feeling that by the time the SD card is shipped and delivered, the download will be available. I'm just gonna wait until the 15th; I have plenty of SDs cards lying around.

It is still free. You can download it to your SD card for free. No charge. If you want them to supply a new SD card with it and have it shipped, you pay for that.

Please do. Any updated software functionality changes from present, or how we maneuver around between screens that you notice changed, let us know. My company laptop that has a SD slot is pretty locked down (my IT dept is most anal) on a lot of downloads but may give it a try and see what happens once downloads are available.
