  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I know this is a bit off-topic folks, but I thought because the cars are cousins, it might be tolerated. Observations:
  1. A bit more traffic than I'd be comfortable with at that speed.
  2. The wind-noise!
  3. You can definitely tell that our cars are tuned for mid-range and not for high-speed (of course, it could be that immediately before that video I watched an 650hp E63 M6 and it seemed to effortlessly recover to speed when it had to slow down 😂)

So, he maxed out at about 155 mph/250 kph. Actually, the roads were very empty. I didn’t catch the location of his route. Anybody?

Here’s 207 mph/333 kph:

The fastest I've driven was when I hit 149 in West Texas in my 04 Acura TL, but where I was and the time of day it was you literally saw no traffic for miles. In the Stinger video, the amount of lorries (to borrow the Euro term ) and obstructing traffic would make me very nervous if I were passing them at 80-100MPH faster than they were traveling. Thankfully they actually practice some level of lane discipline in Germany, rather than the IDGAFAY attitude demonstrated on American roads.

If you like that Audi, you'll appreciate this one too. AutoTopNL does a lot of high-speed Autobahn videos, but never once have I heard him actually make a sound, and in this one right around the 1:21-1:23 mark he uh, "remarks" about how fast the car is 🤣. Extra points for the stranded BMW citing at 3:48, and possibly a Mini (BMW underneath the skin) at 3:50 just past the entrance to the Autobahn.

Damn! The driver has some balls on him to drive 207mph on a road passing semi trucks; even if it is the Autobahn. I used to be stationed in Germany back in 1999 and remembered how scary it was when Porsche 911 just blow past me in the left lane like I was standing still on the Autobahn even though I was traveling 100+mph.

I like speed, but I lose my nerve around 150mph unless the road is empty of other drivers and is very smooth.

Looks like he hit 270 kph which is 167 mph

As it should! Just a clarification though; the videos posted above are all from the Autobahn, where in places (not everywhere though) the speeds are legal (I wouldn't have posted the ones I posted otherwise). Nevertheless legal or not, by my eye it looks like too much traffic for that kind of speed, but hey I've never been to Germany and never driven on the Autobahn so maybe I'm just too conservative. In any case, it is nice to see what our cars are capable of, and that's unmodified.

I was in rural France and returning about 1 a. m. to the chambre d'hote where we were staying. The road was a three lane with the center lane for overtaking in either direction. I had a rental car. The road was lighted and was a quality surface for the location. Zero traffic. I saw in my mirror far behind a single headlight and wondered what that might be. Within a VERY short time the headlight was advancing on me with dramatic speed. I glanced at my speedometer to see what my speed was, about 65 mph, converted. in that instant the motorcycle was at my left side and then past me and disappearing. It was a flash of yellow-green, that was all I could identify. I judged according to the speed that I was passing the light poles and the speed he passed me that he was more than double my speed, so maybe 150. This with houses and driveways on either side of the road, not a superhighway, just a quality surface with room to accelerate.

I was an Army company commander in West Berlin during the Wall days. I was happy enough to hit 112 in my BMW 2002.
