  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just picked mine up this last Wednsday (12/30) to use as a template. Last year my company took a 3.8T to SEMA. (The "T" is not a typo. We mocked up the kit, and are still in the finalizing stages.) I plan on making parts/upgrades to the 4.6L, and will most likely be presenting the vehicle at SEMA 2010.

Regardless, I couldn't wait to get started. So...the taillights are already smoked out.

Looks good, but I don't quite get the point of blacking out the back of the car and leaving the chrome grille, bumper and door trim.

I agree. I'm not trying to be TOO insulting, but I did this 10 years ago when I was 17. I was quite surprised to see it on this car, or in this decade or even the last decade.

I think that having the tail lights smoked takes away from the beautiful LED's:(

I haven't gotten to that part yet. It's coming. Just haven't had the time to diassemble everything yet.

I'm personally not too fond of the contrasting red and chrome against the black. As far as the lighting at night, there isn't any problems seeing the lights whatsoever. As work progresses, you'll see what I finally have in mind for the project.

Fair enough:) and I respect your will:D

Fixed it. Well...all except the headlights. I'll be separating the headlights, painting the inside body color, and adding LEDs. I haven't separated yet because I have to decide how I'm going to do it.

And the turn signals are still clear and easy to see!

I love the tail lights. Is that film, same as for windows? How can I get some?

And how did you blacken the chrome around the windows?

Thanks

I tint the clearcoat and spray it on the taillights. The thicker the darker. However, you can buy a film to go over your existing taillights through lamin-x.com.

The chrome was blackened with the same technique. You can do the same with Candy colors also.

2 year bump!!!!

I wish you had a pic up of your car when you bought it, but after you took off your chrome side trim.

I'm thinking about doing this as I'm not a huge fan of chrome.........Any suggestions??
