  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Adding bass to your 17 speaker Lexicon with new amplifier

does anyone know what the actual sub is rated?

exercise restraint with this amp...
You're at 500 watts @ 4 ohm and the kicker in the write up is at 150 watts @ 4 ohm
Appreciate that advice. Even turning it all the way down would cause an issue?

There is a picture in one of my posts with my amp settings as far as gain and xover goes. I keep my bass at +3 right now and it is amazing. You can increase gain and xover and keep your bass setting negative and still have a great bass but not from the front speakers anymore. That is why I want to keep the bass on positive setting so I still get bass from the front door bass speakers. No issues and no rattles. Couple folks here have done it long long time ago and they haven’t reported any problems.

I'm being told by 2 shops that they need to remove the rear seats in order to remove the deck lid to replace the sub. Is that true? I'm the least hands on person in this sub but I'm not trying to get screwed on labor costs

Kocyk123 I'm not too far as I stay in Illinois myself. Would I be able to hear how yours sound to determine my next move? Who knows you may have another customer if that is not a problem.

Yes, absolutely! Send me a private message on when would you like to stop by and I will share the address.

I am new to the forum and can't seem to find how to pm you.

Thanks to you and Carguy75, I've purchased a RF R500X1D to play with. The only issue is the ACC is putting out 4-5v and the specs state the amp requires 9-14v. Do you guys happen to know the output of the ACC wire or is my wire tap faulty? This is my second tap I used.

I read Kocyk123 soldered his connection and Carguy used a wiretap. I've jumpered the Remote to B+ so I know the amp gets power.

One other thing. My trunk has been up for a couple of days now with not battery. I read that I need to manually close the trunk to calibrate it position again so I it will open. As of now, the keyfob, trunk button or dash button do not work. I DO NOT have the valet button pressed :)

Third time is the charm...Tried a different style of tap and made a good connection. Remote power is working.

As far as the trunk goes, close it manually and then open with trunk button on the trunk.
I tapped into the AAC and made no connection, that is why I soldered it.

Wire tapping should work, and it did per your post. I had to make sure I used the correct gauged tap for the factory amp remote wire(red tap 22-18 gauge I believe )to get a good connection and not damage the wires. So far so good months later on my install.

I did the mod and can confirm, bass is much tighter and it's an easy mod with solid results. Took about 1.5h. I used Rockford Fosgate R2-500X1 with gain set at 4 and the aux knob set at 75%, sounds great.
Post #13 has the colors of the cables reversed though, sub - was grey in my car and sub + was blue.

Thank you. You are absolutely right. Thanks for catching that! It was my mistake when creating this tutorial. You want to use 4 and 5 from Connector A and 22 from Connector B:

I am not the greatest with explaining things but I added more explanation to my drawings:

Just did this on the 2016 Ultimate and a few things ive observed. The wire colors differ and when you reveal the sheathing the Light Pink wire for example looks pink but the exposed part looks brown. Fairly clean car with low miles so I suspect its from heat and time.

The two sub wires were completely different however on mine.

lol I followed the first one, it sounds ok but I discovered that after putting it all back together the factory amp will go into protect mode when you first start the car with the amp still connected lol. Going to swap to the other pair later

Anyone do this on the Tech Package 14 speaker system?

I just did mine last month.

The pinout on the 14 speaker system is totally different for some reason but the colors are still the same for the subwoofer. I used the pair in the top right of the photo.

Not really sure about the ACC wire though - my LOC has the auto turn-on feature so I didn't bother looking for it.

I have a 2016 and am having some trouble getting my amp to power on. I am reading 0v from pin 22 while the car is running with my multimeter. Does anyone know if the ACC is on a different pin in the 2016?

Check your connection. Are you using tap a wire? If you do, try soldering. Had same problem and it was because bad tap a wire connection
