does anyone know what the actual sub is rated?
Appreciate that advice. Even turning it all the way down would cause an issue?exercise restraint with this amp...
You're at 500 watts @ 4 ohm and the kicker in the write up is at 150 watts @ 4 ohm
Well alright then. Guess I'm spending couple hundred extra than I thought I would
There is a picture in one of my posts with my amp settings as far as gain and xover goes. I keep my bass at +3 right now and it is amazing. You can increase gain and xover and keep your bass setting negative and still have a great bass but not from the front speakers anymore. That is why I want to keep the bass on positive setting so I still get bass from the front door bass speakers. No issues and no rattles. Couple folks here have done it long long time ago and they haven’t reported any problems.
I am new to the forum and can't seem to find how to pm you.Yes, absolutely! Send me a private message on when would you like to stop by and I will share the address.
Wire tapping should work, and it did per your post. I had to make sure I used the correct gauged tap for the factory amp remote wire(red tap 22-18 gauge I believe )to get a good connection and not damage the wires. So far so good months later on my install.Third time is the charm...Tried a different style of tap and made a good connection. Remote power is working.
I did the mod and can confirm, bass is much tighter and it's an easy mod with solid results. Took about 1.5h. I used Rockford Fosgate R2-500X1 with gain set at 4 and the aux knob set at 75%, sounds great.
Post #13 has the colors of the cables reversed though, sub - was grey in my car and sub + was blue.
Thank you. You are absolutely right. Thanks for catching that! It was my mistake when creating this tutorial. You want to use 4 and 5 from Connector A and 22 from Connector B:

lol I followed the first one, it sounds ok but I discovered that after putting it all back together the factory amp will go into protect mode when you first start the car with the amp still connected lol. Going to swap to the other pair laterThank you. You are absolutely right. Thanks for catching that! It was my mistake when creating this tutorial.
