  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My crappy dealer, Advantage Hyundai, just emailed to congratulate me on my one-year ownership of my Hyundai XG.

Now I know this is some auto-generated letter error, but the last XG was made in... what? 2005? I think this it's hilarious that of all the models to mention in error, it would be this one.

Anyway, I hope all of your XG's are treating you well.

Never forget...

Ah yes, who can ever forget the 3.5L V6 pumping out 194 HP. My dad drove this car for some years and then switched to the TG (Azera) when it replaced the 3rd gen XG and of course replaced that with the HG. He really likes the Grandeurs.

I keep getting GMC emails about trading in my wife's Acadia (the one that required 3 AC fixes) that I traded in two years ago.

I didn't realize until I decided to look into it today that the XG was a previous generation Azera by a different name, or that the Azera (Grandeur) soldiers on in Korea today and is rather striking after its recent redesign.

The XG was the first time I took Korean car manufacturers seriously. I really admired the design when it first came out, and it looked like they really started paying attention to the details. For the US, it was kind of a signal that a shift was happening from cheap throwaway cars to having a well-rounded lineup.

My friend's dad had an XG back in the day, and I never disliked the car and always considered it sort of an oddity. I actually liked the first-gen Tiburon and always thought it was cool, but it was really the second gen that I felt was a genuine Korean attempt at a sport compact. Of course, it was really the 2009 Sonata that seemed like the first mainstream effort by a Korean car company to truly compete with established segment leaders while not wholly relying on price/feature content.
