  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is this 5.0 fully loaded?

Not fully loaded. It does not have the 9"+ touchscreen, heated steering wheels and a few other things. It has the Tech package. It's my car, but in black. You will be able to get Carplay on this ones. The ultimates - you cannot get carplay.
The important thing is it has the horsepowers and the torques.

Any major issues to be concerned about? Does the 100,000 mile warranty transfer?

No, it becomes a 5/60 warranty for second owner.

It looks fine but I would get a third party PPI. Price looks right to me. I would also check it out per the Carangel's videos on youtube on how to inspect a car. Make sure tires/brakes are good, and that you get two (2) Fobs. Now is the time you have leverage. Use it. Don't be afraid to walk away.

Typical issues on these cars: Rotting plastic on trunk switch, rotting plastic around the brake light in the rear window, flapping type of vibration coming from center console at speeds of 28-35 MPH (opinions vary as to cause), head units may go, creaky (or shattering) pano sunroof, backup camera fails due to fraying of wiring harness in trunk.

I have a warranty, but I probably would have just self-insured.

Appreciate the info guys. I'm trying to decide if I want a older 5.0 for around $18k or wait until the end of the year or early next year to to buy a low mileage 2018 G80 5.0 or 3.3t in the $30k range. Leaning more towards the second option.

I'm saving $900+ a month into the car fund and I'm in no hurry to buy. I have about $15k saved up.

I don't know if I can convince myself to buy a car loaded with tech that is just outside the warranty. I currently drive a no-tech 2005 Ford Ranger which runs fine. I'm keeping the truck in either scenario.

I have owned a 15 5.0 for a little over a year. Love the car, bought CPO with extended warranty. I dont think I would buy one of these card without warranty/cpo. To much to go wrong. I say wait and find a Ultimate, all the goodies. If nothing else you get a HUD which alone is worth the extra $ in my opinion.

I think the HUD is pretty cool too. Might be a dealbreaker to not have it.

Yes it is, this is the first car I have ever owned with a HUD. I must say that after using the HUD I fell in love with it. Especially when you have been driving for 12 hours and you are tired . Really Really nice feature.

Yep... Helps you keep your eyes on the road and you get NAV/turning instructions through it as well.

Did the 2015 Genesis have option packages? I am wondering if this used 2015 is fully loaded or not

No, the Ultimate 5.0 RWD U.S. model with all the features has the 17 speaker system, 9.2in navigation screen, HUD display, active suspension, and power trunk. 2015-2016 AWD 5.0 models was not available in the U.S nor with a heated steering wheel, so the Ultimate was the best 5.0 model available the U.S. The Genesis 5.0 you posted is well equipped, but not the top of the line Ultimate model for 2015 in the U.S.

Agree totally. Non-ultimate owners will probably balk at this but I don't think the interior in nearly as impressive when you step down to a Tech Package Genny. Sure the HD screen, HUD, power trunk, and ECS are great (and obviously I wanted those too) but even the satin real wood and real aluminum trim on the dash and the fact that the 9.2" screen fully fills the hole in the dash for it without an extra plastic bezel makes a huge difference on the perception of interior quality.

I drove a 3.3T G80 Sport (I think it was AWD) prior to driving 5hrs to check out a my 15 5.0 Ultimate and I personally prefer the 5.0 even if the 3.3T is actually quicker in real life. The V8 sounds great and really lends itself to the effortless comfort of the rest of the car. Squeeze the throttle in any gear and there's immediate torque without the need to downshift of spool a turbo. I'm also guessing the 5.0 might get better real-world gas mileage. In the past I've been able to get better than EPA mileage out of my NA cars and always worse than EPA numbers out of turbo'd cars, especially around town. I just started tracking my fill-ups on Fuelly a few months ago, and over 1500 miles (maybe 250 of which is highway) my average MPG is 18.0, well over the EPA 15 in the city. That includes some remote starts and sitting in traffic as well. HOWEVER, G80s don't have ECS on 5.0s, only on the 3.3T Sport. I would definitely drive both versions of the G80 to see what you think.

I have satin real wood and real aluminium trim on my Tech 5.0.

In my opinion, you need the V8 on this car. It turns it into Baller status.

Learned something new today! So V6 Base, Signature and Tech has fake wood and aluminum. V6 Ultimate and any V8 has real satin wood and real aluminum. Nice!

Real Wood looks & feels so nice . Its the real thing.
One of the reasons i got the Ultimate trim for myself.
