If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So will this have the backseat command console like the Korean version?

G80 3.5T RWD PRESTIGE$65,100

hmm, essentially the same option level as my 2018 Sport and $14,000 more.. looks like I will be looking elsewhere when my lease is up.

So will this have the backseat command console like the Korean version?
No, it's mentioned nowhere on the options list. The outgoing model was the same way, offering the reclining back seats domestically but not in North America.

On the bright side, that ought to save you an extra 100 pounds in weight, freeing up trunk space and making this behemoth just a bit more nimble.

Big difference in price between the 2.5 and 3.5 engines, 2.5 might be a good choice now that it has some real power.
Thanks for the info, I can't wait for a review of the 2.5T, Petrolhead guy from Korea on YouTube said he would review the 2.5 and 3.5 engines soon, can't wait.

great info thanks! waiting for a V8 option ;)

What is Integrated Starter Generator (ISG)?

I'm going to Google it, but if anyone knows, share, thanks.

You might have to look elsewhere. Genesis (and Hyundai) announced that they were phasing out the Tau V8 some time ago. The new 3.5T is meant to replace the 5.0 in the lineup. The G90 is the last thing you'll see it in.

What is Integrated Starter Generator (ISG)?
A start-stop system.

hah! exactly! it might be end of the road for me, unless they'll put huge discounts on them next year, once my lease is up in May. If not, I'll keep my '18 G80 sport or I would get the same but '20 leftovers or G70. The 2020 BMW M340i AWD is nice car too and much faster! :D

I thought the sport had a MSRP of close to $60k, with the V8 a little over $60k.

M3 is a totally different car though, can't imagine much cross-shopping going on there.

It does seem their pricing is moving ever-upwards as they gain more success. Not unlike Lexus' gradual path - from being far less than their luxury competitors to slowly inching closer and closer.

A solid long-term strategy for the brand. First, build great cars. Second, get people to drive them, review them. Third, steal some market share (must lead with the "value" argument (price) to sway Merc, BMW, Lexus buyers). Repeat for a few years till the brand starts getting some "legs" with the early-adopters (guys like us) who swoon about them and spread the word. As market share and revenues grow and some brand loyalty develops start shrinking the "value" pitch (to earn better profits). Repeat gradually year by year.

It's clear they have a long-game strategy mapped out, and so far they are executing it pretty damn well. Quite interesting to watch the brand develop!

PS: It worked on me. My G90 is my second Genesis - I traded in my 2013 Genesis Sedan after many years of flawless performance (Step 1: Build great cars). It was a no-brainer for me to check out the 2020 G90 when it was time for me to go car shopping again. And an easy decision to buy it!

The sticker on my Ultimate AWD 3.8 was $55550. Your Sport was 51?

I did expect a pretty good bump though. I'm sure they are trying to close the gap with the Germans a bit but they did toss in a few more goodies with it. I'd like to get a'21 but will wait for some discounting. I won't be first in line.

Agreed on all fronts- but as mentioned in some other threads, Genesis has yet to offer competitive leasing rates or an actual brand-specific dealership network, which is key to the success of any luxury brand (unless you're Tesla). MSRP pales in comparison to these two factors, and I'm hoping that by increasing the price this much, Genesis is putting more emphasis on said factors as well.

The cars have gained the public recognition, but to be truly on top, they need to take a couple more steps.

The base trim is more than $10k over what I paid for my new '19 base trim just six months ago.

They need dedicated Genesis dealers and need to learn how to treat customers. Selling a $67k car at a Hyundai dealership will be interesting.

Yes, we are witnessing a brand as it actively develops. My experience in buying my 2020 G90 was great.., no doubt because this Hyundai dealership was also committed to be their Genesis dealership. They treated me gold star thruout the process. It was not, yet, a separate dealership, but it will be. Imagine the investment required? This is not an easy thing!

Imagine the investment required? This is not an easy thing!
It's not that Hyundai wasn't capable of funding it, heck they tried it a couple years ago. What stopped them was state franchising laws that resulted in their own dealerships trying to sue them for not giving all of them the right to sell Genesis. That's why we currently have the awkward "Genesis display tucked in some small corner of a Hyundai dealership" situation. I'd go as far as to claim that the whole mess torpedoed sales of the entire brand from 2018-2019, because prior to that the Hyundai Genesis/G80 was selling quite well, while the G90 did okay.

Back on the topic of the G80, I would like to see more specs. Things like interior room, fuel economy, weight of each trim, etc- those may be important factors to consider against the competition as well. The gas-guzzling fuel economy and SUV-like weight of the outgoing model were huge knocks against it compared to the rest of the segment.
