  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I finally cracked the code on polishing pillars back to a 'piano black' finish today.
I recently bought a 2017 G80. The RGT side pillars are fine, nice and black with a mirror finish look. The LT side had heavy oxidation and some white hazing. Probably parked the same direction in FL for a while.
Here's what I did...
Washed throughly
3000 grits wet sand (vertically)
Yellow pad with Meguiars Ultimate Compound (several passes with RA @ 4500)
Blue micro fiber pad and Turtle Wax rubbing compound. First by RA and then by hand with VERY HEAVY pressure. I even foldled the pad in half like a taco to get into the corners
M21 Glazing with white pad
M Ultimate Wax topcoat
Wish I would have taken a before picture, but I am super pleased with the results! The rear pillar is before the final hand rub .

Nice. I have some serious water spots and swirls on my 2015 pillars. Will try your method.

update... if you leave off any top coat (wax or glaze) they have more shine and look crisper

I also have some of that on the roof . I ordered glossy black 3M 2080 wrap. It's supposed to be good for up to 8 year. If that doesn't work I will give your way a try.

Buy ur self a carpro dlux and no more swirl after plus u can use almost every where ( all interior part but no leather, ur rim and chrome part) a bottle in cad is $60 and u can diy
