  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2012 with the technology package and honestly I really like the factory Lexicon system (by far the best factory system I have had yet), but sometimes I really miss having deep bass as most of my cars have always had at least a single 12 inch installed. I have a buddy that has always installed and tuned my systems for me so install shouldn't be much of an issue. My question is mainly what would I need to do in order to add a single 12 and amp to the factory system to extend the bass capabilities? Also, I have always went with Kicker CVR's or similar in the past, but I don't want to completely drown out everything with bass, didn't know if anybody had any recommendations as to decent subs that won't be too overkill for the factory speakers. Any advice and/or input would be appreciated.

Your car is different than ours, so I'm not sure if we could help. You're in the G70 forum.

No worries. Sorry we are of no use to you!

I’ve installed an external 12” sub in the trunk of my g70 .. hooked with an 500w amplifier .. it just completes the sound and doesn’t sound too strong 👌🏽

I was just wondering myself, if it’s a good idea to add the sub. The way our trunk and car is put together, it drowns out a lot of sound from outside the cabin. Do you feel the 12” is necessary, or could you get by with a solid 10” with a ported box?

did you have any issues with the anc

G70 owner trying to add trunk subwoofer. Where did you find wiring diagram for the lexicon amp in the trunk? Trying to tap into it myself, but can only ding stinger GT wiring diagram

I just tapped into the subwoofer wire under the driver seat .. works great

But if you find the wiring diagram for the lexicon, share it here please
I personally think it’s exactly the same amp, just rebranded 🤷🏻‍♂️ So I would use the same diagram

does this has any benefit compared to tapping to speaker wires?

The speaker wires lead to the trunk. That's where I'm looking to tap into the wires to add a line out converter in the trunk. Stinger and g70 are same car, so I'm assuming same amp wiring, but wanted to check this forum to verify.

There is a thread pretty extensive with pics an factory amp wiring diagram. I finally also added an amp and two 8" bazookas that I had stored in a closet for years. Used an LOC tapped in the factory sub out straight to amp. Good thing the battery is in the trunk so no long wires to run. Now the audio is complete , nice crisp highs, good clear vocals and now some low end bass to thump(a little too much bass) but I've adjusted the gains and frequency on the amp and it's now on point. The two bazookas fit perfectly behind the seat and with the center access door down I get enough thump through. This car is so well insulated there is no excessive rattling in the trunk.

I had an installer install mine, but I am pretty sure he also tapped the wires under the seat. Sound is very subjective, but even as a person who likes a little bit of "oomph", I can unequivocally state that 2x12 is too much *expletive* bass. I don't like particularly loud music, preferring instead to listen to music at a moderate volume and yet "feel" the low frequency, but the 2x12" system I had transferred over from my 2015:
  1. Has way too much *expletive* bass; I can't hear the melody of some songs unless I turn it wayy down half the time
  2. Takes up too much of the tiny trunk. In some future iteration I'm going to get another enclosure and just have a single 12" sub, but I have other upgrades I want to do before then.

We don’t have a center access in the back in the g70 like your g80 unfortunately..
I tried putting my bazooka in the trunk and didn’t sound good at all ..
too much rattle and almost no bass in the cabin 🤷🏻‍♂️

Spent the last day working on it. Took 1 of the subs I kept in my 03 Monte Carlo and added it to the Lexicon system. Only thing left to do is to switch out a black enclosure to finish the look. 12 in Alpine type X, Hifonics BRX 1400.1d, 900 watts @ 2ohm RMS, 10 farad Fosgate capacitor, lc2i LOC.

Bet that sounds phenomenal. What's the first song you put on to take it through its paces? Whip It?
