HAS ANYONE TRIED THIS MODE ON A 2015 5.0 SEDAN

Hi i have a question ,please feel free to give me you input, I wanted to know if anyone has tried to remove the intake air flaps on the inside of the air filter boxes.The 5.0 has two air filters boxes in the engine compartment. I seen a video on the removal of this and was wondering if it gave the car more power,as it would give the car more air. Also would this set off some codes in the CPU. Let me know what you think.

Pretty sure car was tuned for most power and efficiency of the factory. Doubt you would see any difference.

The 2015-2016 5.0 do not have any flaps in the air boxes. I checked when I upgraded to performance filters. Our airbox does have some type of baffle boxes located inside the front bumpers to prevent water from entering the intake, which may free up some power if removed. However, it could also allow water to enter the intake when would be very very bad so I will not remove mine.

Many factory tuned engines can produce a bit more power than what it makes in production models. I believe the stock engine can make 10-20hp more with a more aggressive ECU tune, more airflow to the engine and a more efficient exhaust, stronger ignition, even engine and gear oil has an impact on power production of a engine due to reduced friction.

A stock car overall power production is usually a compromise of cost cutting and customer demand. Therefore, the Genesis is affordable, has above average performance, quiet, and has good fuel economy. However, changing one or more of the variables in the engine tuning such as improve airflow can swing the tuning more towards power production with lesser fuel economy.

Note: The gains from a modified free flowing stock intake would be modest in a 400hp engine. However, it can be noticeable to many drivers that spend much time in the higher rpms.
