  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Mapnsoft v14 on the Horizon

I see errors on most trips we go on. I just stop and think about the fact that there are over 7,800,000 miles of roads in the US. I know they are constantly building new roads, changing roads, changing signs, etc all the time and then realize they are doing a fantastic job of keeping the maps as accurate as they are.

I've run into errors on other mapping software too, and paper maps years ago. Since the are computer generated, some of the routes are strange, though do get you there.
One night going to a hotel, the nav told me to make a left that would take me across a field to the parking lot. I could see an intersection a hundred yards ahead so made the left and went to the driveway. Next morning in daylight I could see tracks where other have gone across the field.

Yes did that.
Thanks

Idk if I'm just dense (very likely) but this took me a few days to figure out.
If you want to cancel the current route, you can press and hold "resume/pause route" maybe this can help someone like me lol. There used to be cancel route button but now you gotta press and hold! Sorry for a duh post :p

So that's how you cancel! 🤦‍♂️

Yeah, they made that change a few versions ago. It's ridiculous. There is nothing, anywhere, in the menu that says cancel. The old way was better.... You'd press cancel and it would ask "cancel or pause". So simple. 🤦‍♂️

Yup, that's the version i had. It was a few updates ago but I never cared enough to update it until now. Same version since i got car in September.

Is Mapnsoft "Overly Guided"?
At least that's how I feel and it is very annoying, sometime!
Often I had no choice by switching to Waze or cancel the route altogether myself.
It seems like she "talks or repeats" too much over a very simple guidance as compared to Waze.
Is it just me or the other users feel the same way too?

There’s actually an option for that. More or less prompts or something.

The limited prompts are just voice control... Not how much she talks.

And, no, nothing is more wordy than Waze.

I just mute the nav volume and let the heads up display guide the way, or the screen between the gauges.

I have over a million miles of GPS guidance in the last 16 years. The Genesis system works good for me. Better than some, not as good as others. But you turn the car on, press the button and tell her where you want to go and it will take you there. No complaints. You guy who complain should have used a Garmin 2835 in the 2004ish era.

Just to mention, if you do the upgrade be sure to check your default options. Last night I wanted to see if it was different on anything and chose Home as destination. There are two equal time routes on this trip from my experience and should be about 40 minutes either way depending on time of day. The screen said it was 72 miles and 2 1/2 hours.

The "avoid freeways" was in the default when I upgraded so I had to find it in the options and turn it off.

Has anyone ever NOT gotten the update SD card delivered to them? I'm still waiting for mine, ordered it on May 23rd, last update is May 28 saying it left LA.

Let me know if the download fixes it.

Download fixed it. So, for anyone missing the 2 settings do the download. The download is a different version of the software than was delivered on the cards.

I will say the download version seems "slower" like others said, especially the USB music - takes forever to start playing. The version missing the settings didn't seem this slow.
