If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Friends:

In my last car, I wore straight through the all-weather mats *AND* the underlying carpeting, in no time at all. I think it's because of the way I get in and out of the car, I think I do some kind of twist maneuver with my heel...coupled with the fact of where I rest my feet while driving. Anyway, I thought I'd be smart, take the original mats out of the new car (to keep them pristine--God knows they're expensive if you wear them out), and put in aftermarket mats, and if I wear those out, then whatever, I just buy new ones, etc. I was told by my car zealot friends that the only game in town for this is CoverCraft.com, so I ordered these:

When you order them, you have to input the make, model, and trim of the car, because they are "custom" cut for the car you have. Sounds good right! I toyed with the idea of getting the custom embroidery on it---but then I thought better of it, because that makes them non-returnable, and what do I know about this company? As it happens, you'll see that was a fortunate choice.

So I dutifully enter 2020 Genesis/G80/3.8 in the drop downs.

A week later, and the mats arrive. Two problems, one big, and one small. The "big" problem is that the passenger front mat is the wrong size. The mounting holes are several inches too close together, and the overall geometry of the mat is at points 2+ inches out of shape. So that's a little crazy. There's no chance this is user error of course ;) Clearly despite my entering the correct information, I got at least one of the 4 mats cuts for another car. The smaller problem is that, despite the pictures of the mat on the site looking like surprisingly nice frieze carpet, this is really just fairly ordinary, scratchy, loopy, material. A somewhat nicer grade than cheap mats, that's all. This isn't too much of a surprise, the price is too good for something that would truly be as nice as pictured. But nonetheless, I didn't approve of the bait and switch. I called the place, and they are allegedly emailing me a return label for Fedex (though, that has not happened as of this writing). This is my first time buying from this company, and it wasn't good. The woman on the phone managed to do the call without attitude, but barely. She wanted "pictures" to prove it. She wisely backed off of that position when I put up some resistance. I'll happily send pictures, but "the holes are several inches too close, and the shape is completely wrong for the car", is pretty convincing, and so I wasn't about to prove I wasn't a moron as a prerequisite for the return.

I might follow-up to this forum post with pictures.

So I guess I'm after three things:

1) Anyone that Googles for "Genesis G80 mats" gets to see this story, and exercise the appropriate vigilance if they are buying the same product,
2) I still want mats. It's not like my problem went away. Can anyone tell me where they have gotten mats for their G80, aftermarket, that they liked that aren't all-weather mats?
3) Is this just a random bad experience with a company that normally is awesome? I hate to swear off an entire apparently popular retailer just based on this experience.

There should be another option; RWD or AWD, hence the shape of the front passenger side mat is different and those mounting holes won't fit.
I know that, because I had to sell my WeatherTech's mats that I purchased for previous '15 5.0 RWD and they wouldn't fit an '18 3.3tt AWD

You can tell us when the mats are returned and they follow up with you. As dareck mentioned, there are two styles so they may have screwed up. Let us know what happens.

This is really great information. No, their vehicle make/model picker for the custom floormats does not differentiate between AWD and RWD. I'll bet that's the problem.

It's good that we're getting this on the record for the next guy that Google searches aftermarket G80 floor mats.

Yes, I intend to follow up in the forum. Like I said, "covercraft" has a good reputation with people that wake up in the morning and think about cars, so I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt. Also, if it is a AWD/RWD technicality, that's very understandable. I'd like to follow up with them on the off chance I can get someone smart enough/empowered enough on the phone to maybe look into getting the AWD/RWD thing added to the custom cuts.

One thing I always do when buying a new car is to negotiate extra mats (and more) into the deal. I do that at the end of the money negotiations when the dealer asks me “what can we do to get you to buy this car?” Other items I require include oil changes/rotations, cargo net, mud guards, etc.

Great idea on get an extra set of mats to close the deal. I've done this for mud guards and other OEM accessories, but will add floor mats to my list on my next purchase. The drivers floor mat will get heavily soiled/uncleanable and wear out where right heel rests. Having a spare set I can swap them out down the road. Like people where parts where out (knee/hip replacements) when we age, vehicle parts/mats can just be replaced. Actually floor mats are cosmetic so it's more analogous to a tummy tuck, face-lift or b00b job. ;)

I bought from Auto Anything in CAL., twice for my 2012 R-Spec and they were really good plush mats.

So far this return isn't going well. They told they'd send me a return label via email.

This has not occurred. I'm holding off on calling them back for another day or so because I have a tendency to be....irritable...in these situations, so I would like to give them every chance to avoid me at my worst disposition.

Thanks for this. I called these guys on the phone. I got a really helpful guy who understood exactly what I was talking about. This is what he told me:

1) Yes, he can confirm there appears to be a difference in the mat for AWD vs RWD
2) He recommends Lloyd's mats for this, though he will be happy to sell me whatever I want
3) Some of the companies (including Lloyds) do not have the Genesis 2020's in there on the custom cuts, however:
4) He can confirm that the 2019 models and 2020 models are identical for floor mats.
5) Therefore, order Lloyd's mats from him, put in 2019, and I'll see it'll ask me if it's AWD or not.

I verified all of that was correct.

So I'm going to do that. Unless one of you guys stops me.

Thanks for the tip on "Anythingauto.com".

ONE TEAM.

This is only passenger side, that is different in RWD and AWD (AWD on top) as you can see, the left hole is moved away from the edge, towards the center, therefore the holes will not match with the hooks/pegs and the left edge curve is different as well and it will not fit right against the wall.
You can download and send these images to those guys and get your money back.

Excellent.

Curiosity: How do you have both sets of these? Do you own both a AWD and RWD?

Thanks very much.

I had a '15 5.0 RWD, then I I traded it in for '18 3.3tt AWD. I thought, I'd reuse them in my new car, turned out, the passenger side would not fit correctly, so I sold them to one of our members.

Just following-up on this.

I called Covercraft again (never got my Fedex label that they promised). They say they're sending another one. We'll see. Interestingly, they forced me to talk to the same customer service agent when I called back, so I had to wait in her queue. Not sure why they do that. Whatever.

Also told them the information you guys kindly relayed to me about the AWD vs RWD. She said she was making the annotation and that the appropriate people at Covercraft would get the information. But I did notice her attitude change from "This customer is an idiot" to "whoops, sounds like our fault". I'd be more inclined to give them another go had the entire return process started out with that attitude.

So I'm not thrilled about this whole experience with CoverCraft. If literally your only business is "selling aftermarket car **** in a couple of very specific categories", I feel like I can hold you to the standard of knowing what size the car mats are for my car, and if you don't know that, then I have to ask myself, what else don't you know. I'll pass.

But if the Fedex label works out and I get that, and this return gets processed in something resembling a reasonably prompt manner, then I will consider the matter closed, and "autoanything.com" will have gotten a lifelong customer.

So thank you guys for the information on the AWD vs RWD floor mats, and also for tipping me to autoanything.

...and I do have the Fedex label. Just showed up in email.

DrKK,

What mats did you settle on? I was looking to go with Maxpider 3D mats, but no one have them in stock and it's going to be awhile before they get any. Any suggestions?

The guy recommended this brand to me:
