  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
Genesis G70
Just bought my 2020 G70 and have noticed that there is a lot of tire noise in the passenger compartment. Is this common among all G70 owners. My Sonata was much quieter, also with Michelins. If this is a "luxury car", not impressed!

Lower to the ground. Lower profile tire.

Tire pressure critical on this car and depending on model different for front/rear. Verify

I haven't noticed. Sounds about the same as my 2014 3 series did.
What tires so you have?

Mine is louder than my TL SH-AWD but the car is also 10mm lower and wheels are 1” bigger with skinnier rubber so I’ve learned to accept it!

Did you even test drive the car?
Also, we need more input from you to determine if your noise is "normal."
I have the Sport, with staggered 19" Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires, and I don't find them to be loud at all.
Yet, I don't believe my car is a "luxury car." More of a performance compact sedan.

It's definitely loud, particularly on textured pavement. I don't know this for certain, but I suspect they've removed some things related to sound insulation (which is very heavy) to save weight in the vehicle.

Probably over inflated tires from dealer. Its not the quietest car, because as others have said it leans towards the sport side. Comparing it to a Sonata is....funny

I haven’t checked the wheel well but my Acura had a felt liner. Like a dense thin carpet almost!

yeah, tough comparison to a sonata. different class, different focus. we have low profile, large diameter performance summer tires. that combo will always be louder than what came stock on a sonata.

if the OP has a base model with 18" all seasons that shouldn't be as bad, but the trims with 19" rims & summer tread will have some tire noise to deal with given the packaging. fine by me since my preference is towards the handling benefits. if the OP's criteria is more geared towards luxury and quietness that is not the best combo. all reports i've seen indicate that the G70 is inline with competition, or quieter when, when equipped with the Sport packaging.

Came with the stock Michelin MXM4 all seasons, maybe a different Michelin tire, different tread pattern would help.

I have the same tires. Don't find tire noise that objectable. Even though the pressures are 36 psi front 39 rear. Certainly not as quiet as my 2015 Genesis Ultimate was but this a sport sedan that was a luxury car.

If you seek a remedy that doesn't involve changing vehicles 🚗, many stereo installers will also offer Dynamat installation. Dynamat is a sound-insulation material that can be installed underneath the carpet if you want a professional installation, or simply under the floor mats if you wanted something a little more economical. You can read more about it here.

You could also ask to drive another like one. Then see if it is common to the car or if yours requires attention.

I came from a long line of Honda's, so the G70 is really quiet in comparison. I also have the MXM4 all seasons.

Those that have the GV60 with the MXM4 all seasons, do you still hear the tire noise?
