  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have 2015 Genesis, 3.8, AWD that’s barely under 40k miles and my brakes are emitting a faint squeal. I’m going to have the pads checked and see what’s up. Has anyone else had similar issue with similar mileage?

It happens on a lot of cars. Often from certain driving conditions. My neighbor never had a squeal but this wife makes every car squeal.

Again, depending on how and where you drive, the pads may be gone. When I lived in the city I'd replace pads at 15k.
Many brakes have wear indicators that make a noise when the pads get low.

Thank you. I had the car 24k miles onward, I presume they weren’t changed. Definitely going to change them at first opportunity.

If you got 40k out of front pads, I'd say that was doing pretty well - especially if it's mainly city driving.

I got the car with 24k miles, CPO, not sure if they were ever changed. The wear indicators that squeal are a tool to use and avoid rotor damage, mine were still good since I took it in immediately. Strongly recommended to have brakes inspected and pads changed at first sign of squeal. $225 including labor for front pads replacement.

Same here, mostly city bumper to bumper driving and I average about 30K before I have noise or performance issues and replace. I will say that I am not thrilled with the aftermarket rotors and pads that I installed and next time I will be going back to the OEM setup.

I’m getting these done at Meineke, the dealership appointments were couple weeks out, I didn’t want to damage the rotors. We’ll see how long they last. Plus, I’m moving next week, had to get them done now.
