  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Ceramic coatings/sprays vs the next thing...graphene

Adams has introduced there new Graphene Coating Products. The Auto size bottle (Similar to a bottle of ceramic coating) is $79.95. They also have a Graphene Ceramic spray coating that I think was $44.99. FYI. I have no knowledge of these products, just got a email yesterday and they have a 15% off sale thru July 29th.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Wolfgang says the ceramic coatings do not produce a shine as deep as carnauba wax, but they claim their product will last up to 3 years.

They recommend their carnauba/.synthetic paste, but it is $195???

If you want a fantastic sealant, try Blackfire Paint Sealant(formerly know as Blackfire Wet Diamond). I've used this almost exclusively for the last decade, and nothing comes close to ease of use and longevity.

Ordered the Ethos and their Detox and D3FY. Now the work starts: Clay bar, paint correction and stripping. I plan to take before and after pictures. Will update when I'm done. I'm hoping to be able to put on 2 coats. Just turned 48K. Even though my trim is chrome, I wonder if the graphene will protect the black chrome from peeling

Any update on the Ethos product?

Still waiting to recieve the product. Ordered 7-22. Scheduled to arrive 8-6. I emailed them with a question about the applicator and their response was quick. I'd like to try to get 2 coats out of the 30oz container. Once the product has cured on the car, the same should hold true for the product remaing on the applicator. The product has a very short shelf life (once opened). Tim's quick response was to use the other side or purchase another applicator.

I’ll stick to ceramic until graphene is more proven. Top 3 on my list is Kamikaze, 22ple, and CarPro.

The Last Coat in my opinion is overpriced, too similar to other social media brands that spend more money on ads then their product.

It took about 7 hours (clay bar, polish whole car with Meguier's High Cut, Ethos Detoxify and 2 coats of their graphene). Finally done. Still have a little over 1/3 of their 30ml bottle. Thinking about doing the rims. Application of the graphene was relatively easy. No "high spots" which needed correction. Make sure you use slow, deliberate strokes and your coverage will be thorough. It nicely filled in some of the minor road rash I had near the front turn signals. There was a definite slicker feeling to the surface when I applied the second coat. Can't wait to see it in the sun. Have to wait 48 hours to cure before I check its hydrophobic properties. I'll ask the boys at Ethos if a 3rd coat would make a difference. Picture of the cah by the grass is before.

Why did you need such an apparently abrasive cleaner on such a new car?

Did your finish make a shine as the as a carnauba wax, one?
I was told these new high-tech sealants make a very superficial shiny finish.

I called Autogeek and they recommended
Pinnacle Paintwork
Cleansing Lotion
Which they claim is engineered for new finishes

The car will soon be 2 years old. It has 49k miles. I noticed more spider webs than normal and using a da machine I was aggressive on a few certain areas (hood/trunk) and basically "buffed" over the doors/fenders. I first tried Meguier's less abrasive swirl remover using a soft pad, but I needed more. I have been thinking about getting a sun gun.

The surface was definitely more slicker on the second coat than when I applied the first coat, whether the finish is superficial or not, time will tell. There is a difference on the trunk lid.(see pic) Right side after 1 coat of Ethos and left side before Ethos. I plan to post pre and post treatment splash videos to show if there is a difference in hydrophobic properties between 2 coats of Meguier's Ultimate Liquid wax applied 3 weeks ago and Ethos graphene.

OK but does the shine look as deep as with Carnuba?

I have nevah used cahnuba on my cah so I can"t say if it's any bettah or nawt.
Cahnuba lasts 3 to 4 months? This Ethos stuff is supposed to last much longah.

On anothah note:
I'm not sure if it's psychological or not, but today I looked at the car in the sun and later on in garage. I would swear the surface looks a lot smoother and the paint looks deeper. Haven't done the hydrophobic splash test thing yet. Depending on the graphene's longevity, would I do it again? Answer: yeah. Was it hard to do? Nope.

pure carnuba only gets you 3 months at max usually 2

Nice accent.

Please keep note of how much dust collects on the car. I'm really interested in that vs ceramic. Graphene is antistatic and anticonductive and should, in theory, collect less dust.

Also, have you used a ceramic coating before? Any comparisons to make?

I'm definitely going with graphene but would look to see if you have any insight nonetheless.

Thanks, I'm from Bawstin.
I've nevah used ceramic coatings.
I didn't know about the antistatic property you mentioned.
My roundtrip commute is 75 miles (70 miles hwy) and now that I think of it, the car is still pretty dust free after 1 trip.
It's only been 2 days. The meteorologists are predicting rain in 3 days. I"ll report what happens.
So far so good, but it's wicked early to tell.

Click on the link for a smile and yeah, that's really how we tawk.

...and the NE accents can vary even by neighborhood; as well as in NYC, and throughout the South.
There's a certain regional Cajun accent that sounds exactly like a Boston one.

Update:

OMGOSH, 150 miles and there's no dust on my car! Bhavie, thanks for the info.

That's genuinely incredible. A day after a wash with some ceramic sealant applied and I have a noticable amount of dust on the hood and lower portions of the car.

Hopefully it holds up well. If you continue to have good things to say I'll also go with ethos. My original plan was to get ArtDeShine's coating.

You should also get fewer water spots with graphene, so looking forward to your update after the rain later this week.

Any updates?

I plan on coating mine in two weeks. If I choose Ethos I have to order ASAP if I want it to show up on time.

I'm still very happy with Meguiar's Ultimate Liquid Wax, it's a synthetic. I applied it in November and it still beading water, although only 4,000 miles driven on it.

Here's a ceramic and graphene comparison from the Ethos website:
