  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
1G Genesis Sedan (2009-2014)
I have a 2013 Genesis 5.0 Sedan. The a/c temperature sometimes does not work when using the Auto setting. When it doesn't work, it produces the following outcomes:
- cabin recirculation light goes off
- car blows warmer or hotter than expected air, sometimes even using the heater during August heat!

Setting the temperature all the way down to LOW always functions correctly but that gets too cold and not the 72 that I like.

The a/c system is mechanically sound and has actually been replaced as an attempted resolution. We changed the cabin filter and that helped for a few weeks as the internal temperature seems to function based on pressure. The external temperature reading is always fairly accurate.

Leaving the windows up and sealed while parked seems to help but increases the temperature while parked. I also have to keep them windows and sunroof sealed and not let hot air escape when I drive in a 150° car that has been sitting.

Multiple Hyundai dealers insist it is impossible. They will not even look until I pay them an inspection fee, even though I am still covered by an extended warranty.

Any thoughts?

You may want to check with your warranty company and ask what is covered for the diagnostics.

From experience with non-Genesis cars, the dampers may not be positioning properly. That causes things like the heat in August. I had one car with the dash vents hot on one side, cold on the other and would swap with setting changes.

Could be a mechanical malfunction or could be the computer not sending proper signals, or sensors not sensing properly.

You paid for a warranty, find out what it covers on it.

Several repair facilities have investigated and cannot find the source.

Any AC shop can check pressures, charge, see the compressor running. evap coil temperature and the like. Few would be able to go into the Genesis computer to see if things are operating properly so you probably need a Hyundai dealer that is familiar and has the proper tools to check it out.

Fer gawdsakes, take it to the dealer and pay a fee. Your car is 7 + years old. After they fix it it you can debate the cost of the repairs.
