  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

As I pulled into my driveway I noticed a very loud scraping noise. The noise would also occur if I turned the motor off, put the car in neutral, and then pushed the car. I didn't see anything dragging on the concrete. The dealer tells me the problem is the left front inner fender wheel liner that was damaged either by road debris or water. Supposedly it is pushing up against something that is causing the scraping noise. Anyway, the dealer will replace it for a total of $357.68. Have any of you ever encountered a similar problem? I don't see why the liner could not have used metal instead of this cloth that is easy to tear and warp if it gets wet.

I did hear of one other person that had some damage, forget the cause though. Most every car maker uses some sort of non-metallic liner. They are prone to rust and other damage and cost more. Metal adds weight and to meet EPA guidelines, they go after grams these days. If you live in snow country, you don't want metal hidden away like that.

If your liner was tin it would cost you much more to fix it. Don’t be a Luddite. Accept the new tech.

Not to mention that metal would have ZIP sound absorbing properties.... They're not hard to replace. I might source one from hyundaipartsdeal.com or similar and do it yourself. The "Wheel Guard / Liner is $152.59 per side.

I replaced mine after hitting some debris in the road. It will take longer to jack up and remove the wheel than replacing the liner. Just replace it yourself and call it a day.

Just looked up my order and I bought mine on Ebay from Fourgreenautoparts with an offer of $70. Fender Liner Splash Shield.

Bought mine on eBay for $100 or so and my car guy put it on for free.
It just uses push pins to install.
