  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anybody know how to clean these spots off? Soap and water won’t do it. Not sure what chemicals would be safe. See attached pics. Thanks!!

I'd try a small spot with something like Bar Keeper's Friend. Does a good job on stainless kitchen stuff.

Bar Keeper's friend is way to abrasive. I believe this trim is painted plastic. Bar Keeper's friend is for metal (copper/stainless steel).

If this is material on top of the trim (e.g. dried calcium from water droplets) you may be able to remove that material by MILDLY buffing.
Start with the least abrasive and work your way up.
1) Soap and Water
2) Diluted vinegar to full strength vinegar and a micro-fiber towel. Be sure to thoroughly rinse afterwards.
2) Clay bar
3) Car paint swirl remover (e.g. Mequiars)
4) Buffing compound. (Leave this to the experts/pros).

This looks much like the the window trim "pitting issue" on the G80 Sport trim level reported in the thread here. There is no way to buff this out short of removing the Sport trim package "lacquer" on the entire trim piece. The only solution is replacing the trim.

After fixed, the trim needs to be protected with regular waxing or ceramic coating.

Thanks to both for the advice.

Fortunately not putting. Just hard water spots. Full strength vinegar & clay bar got it clean. No harm or abrasive scratches. Bar keepers friend would have been last Resort before replacing.
