2012 Genesis Sedan 4.6 I had 4 new tires installed. The tire tech showed me one of the sensors was broken off from the mount when changing the tire. TPMS light was not on prior. He says it was just loose inside. I agreed to let them install and program a new tire sensor.

Long story short. The programming and relearn was successful, according to the tool. I saw them do it. They reprogrammed and relearned about 10 times, no joke. When driving the car, the TPMS light comes back on after about 10 miles. Brought the car back sevseral times and they also drove it and experienced it as well.

The tire placed replaced the new sensor with another new sensor and still same issue. I know they used a Autel TPMS relearn tool. What can or should I do? Can this relearn only be done thru dealer? Does the spare also have a sensor that they or I do not know about and thats causing the issue? Any help greatly appreciated.

Perhaps they put the old sensor in you car (glove box or wherever) and the system is still sensing the old sensor and reads it as 0 psi and throws off the warning light.
Check inside your car and/or ask them what they did with the old sensor.
If you find it inside your car, put it far away from your car, go for a drive and it should be reading the new sensor instead and be good to go then.

I had Costco install 4 new sensors along with my new Bridgestone tires. Same overall story, nothing but problems. I went back 4 times, and each time they reset them and sent me on my way. My TPMS light would always come on around 3/4 miles down the road.

Solution-After calling for the 5th time, I was instructed to come in on Sunday when a particular service person (very knowledgeable) would be there. Turns out that they replaced both front sensors and as he put it, erased all preprogrammed data in each sensor and then reprogrammed them to the car.

So far so good, light has not come back on since. The sensors I bought through Costco are made to be used on multiple cars, so this seemed to be the issue.

I was told it was thrown away but will check inside the car anyways to be sure.

I also have a 2012 4.6 sedan and came across the same issue. I purchased a set of the RSPEC 19"s to use as my summer tires. I kept the factory 18"s as my winter set. I purchased a set of 'new' sensors from EBAY. They would sync with the car just fine, but after driving a few miles the TPMS light would appear. I went back to the shop about 3 times, same result. I also went to a different tire shop, no difference. (Side note: The first tire shop charged me over $100 to sync the tires.
The second shop only $30.) Well I thought, that's what you get for buying a $25 set from EBAY. On to the next set.

This time, I decided to purchase a set from a online auto retailer that I had a good experience with in the past. These sensors were about $100 more. Brand new and.... same result. Seriously?!?! I was getting a bit frustrated by now.

Finally, I went to the dealer. Made an appointment and they ordered the sensors. The dealer did not have them in stock. Paid even more this time. Was about mid 200's for sensors and installation. And... success! No more TPMS light. One nice benefit I have now is that when I swap my tires out, they don't need to be synced up to the car again. It's automatic now. I don't know if this would hold true for an aftermarket sensor. Makes for easy swaps that one could complete at home. In conclusion, just go with the OEM sensors, or it could lead to some difficulties and extra $ spent.

I might just bite the bullet and go to the dealer for this. Cant wait to find out how much this is gonna cost.

Wow, the exact thing has just happened to me. I just had four new tires installed by a local tire shop yesterday. Upon leaving the shop, I ran it down the road a couple miles just to see how the tires felt. I then turned around to head home. But the TMPS light appeared, so I just stopped back in to the shop. They first told me it would be $89 for a new sensor, but I told them that light had never been on before. They took the car back in the shop and, sure enough, the manager came out and said they had busted the sensor, showed it to me, and said that that would be "on them". So, they found another sensor(apparently they have a bunch of them there) and installed it. They synced all the sensors and the tech told me all the sensors had a strong signal and he could see them all, as well as the tire pressures, and they told me that the TMPS light was out. So, I took the car home and the light remained off until I got home.

My wife drives this car and some time after she left for work this morning, she texted me that the TMPS light was on. So, I went back to her office, got in her car, and drove back to the shop. They took the car in again and say that they again synced the sensors, which they say were all working fine, and cleared the code that they did not clear yesterday, and that the car picked up that code this morning when the car was again being operated. The TMPS light was off. The tech felt pretty sure that this would solve the problem.

So, I took the car back to my wife's office and left it there for her to drive home. Well, on her way home, the TPMS light reappeared. So, I'll have to call the shop again in the morning. I feel like I should not have to buy a new OE sensor, since the shop admitted that they broke my sensor. Thoughts? And thanks much.

You just need to make sure the TPMS sensors run at the same frequency as the base they are communicating with. My 2013 uses 315mhz sensors.

Also, you dont need a tool to sync the TPMS sensors with the car, they will just figure it out after like 20 miles of driving.
I go through this process every year when I swap summer/winter wheels out in my driveway. The TPMS light will stay on for a couple hours or up to a couple days, depending on the amount I'm driving, before it randomly syncs with the car and the dash light goes away.

Also, if you have installed any aftermarket headlights, the ballasts like to interfere with the sensors and make the TPMS light come on. Restarting the car will make it go away but it shows up again after driving with the lights on for a while.

I wrapped my ballast in foil and grounded it, problem went away.

Hmm, the tire shop finally picked up an OEM pressure sensor and installed it and cleared the codes. However, after 5 or 10 miles, the TPMS light came back on. I'm hoping that what you say is true about the system figuring it out and turning the light back off. I guess I'll know after another 20 miles or so. I have not installed any after market headlights.

I too swap and the damm TPMS stays on all winter......bought the TPMS and tires from tirerack and was told that it was the right frequency.

Tell costco something about this to change the frequency or anything?

The frequency seems to be an issue... The part number in question is

Sensor - Hyundai (52933-2F000)

Amazon, eBay, all have this sensor but it seems to come in 2 flavors which makes no sense to me... either 315Mhz or 433MHz.... Which is the correct one?

I think I was told above in this thread that it takes the 315MHz one. BTW, my TPMS light is still on, as I'm not interested in paying the Hyundai dealer over $100 just because I bought a set of tires and the shop broke my original sensor. And the shop does not seem to be capable of resolving the situation.

I have my own Michelin Alpin winter tires purchased through the Genesis dealer.

This year decided to purchase a set of supposedly very good rims (and sensors) from the local Monro dealer.

I didn't want to pay $1,000 a rim to the Genesis dealer for my winter tire rims, nor did I want to go through the hassle of having the car taken back to the dealer just to switch the tires over.

Closest dealer is an hour away.

The first set of sensors for the winter tires did not work.

The Monro dealer ordered a set of OEM sensors from Genesis.

They installed those sensors. However, the "Genesis app" still shows the TPMS system not working when in fact the TPMS light is Off on the dashboard--

and I CAN see the four different tire pressures (which seem accurate) on the dashboard when I'm driving, of course, over 20 mph.

If I'm not driving the dashboard says I need to drive the car to get the TPMS reading.

The next issuance of Health report for my car is January 2nd.

It'll be curious to see if it checks the working box for the TPMS system on the January 2nd online Genesis Health report.

At the moment the Genesis "app" indicates the TPMS system is not working correctly. 🤷

But on the dashboard it is working correctly.

Go figure.

My next and final concierge dealer maintenance is not needed until February or March.

Stay tuned.

This is the 1st gen Genesis forum. Unlike the 2nd gens, our cars do not read out tire pressure in PSI on the dashboard. They only warn when low.

But :welcome: and thanks for sharing your experience :-)

Okay then thanks for your note.
