  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just picked up my G70 yesterday from the dealership. I have found numerous areas where they have failed to remove protective coverings, labels, etc. I asked the dealer about the molding around the doors and wheel wells, and they assure me this is to remain, but I don't think that is the case

Here is a close up of the molding that is on the edge of each door

Can anyone confirm if this molding is to remain, or should have been removed by the dealership?

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
My car doesn’t have those, and not one I’ve seen on here does. Looks dirty around the door ones too?

I drove it home and found mud & bugs :)

I think this is door protection for shipping transit that dealer is supposed to remove.

Looks like something the dealer added. However, they're not likely to do that unless it's an add-on to the price. While it hard to tell from the limited view pictures, I think it makes the car look cheap.

Those are probably dealer's add-ons, which most likely you already paid for it ~$1500+

Looks like crap...its coming off with the rest of the badging.

Honestly, I wish my dealer left on more of the protective film and bumpers when delivering the car. Removing those myself would have been extremely satisfying.

They did leave a few behind (film below the seat belt holder, sides of the chairs) and it was a joy to remove lol. Maybe just me. 🤷‍♂️

Around the wheel wells I can maybe understand, but by the doors!? Ugh

Yeah, that's bullshit. I hope they didn't make you pay for it as a dealer installed "option". Take it off.
I too found that they did a piss poor job of removing all the clear plastic protecting the carpet, around the door sills and the base of the seat mounts.

NO, they did not charge "extra" for it. I am from the DFW - Texas area and went to Chicago to pickup the car. The price beat the local dealers, and I wanted the White Sport AWD. The dealer doesn't seem to have a lot of Genesis experience, primarily a Hyundai dealership, with 2 Genesis vehicles in stock. My guess is they are not trained properly on the make ready and dealer prep side.

As many dealers as we have in DFW and you had to go to Chicago? Plenty of folks who traveled to DFW to purchase so surprised you had to leave unless your specific car was very limited and not easy to find? Surprised no one would match your Chicago deal and do a vehicle locate or dealer trade for what you wanted? Agree your dealer did the prep too quickly and not very thorough.
