  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2012 R-Spec (April 2012 mfg) with 83K that I just bought from the original owner 3K miles ago. The lock in question does not respond to the fob or the driver's central lock switch. Note: Every now and then when trying it, I see the lock button just barely moving, but that is rare. I think the actuator for the lock has failed. Has anyone had some experience changing it? I ordered the part and am ready for the adventure. The door panel seems easy enough to remove.

That is a recall. Take to the stealership as mine did the same and they replaced it with no questions asked.

I will give it a try. How long ago did you have it done and is there documentation out there about the recall? Thanks for the response!

when you take your car in (i did this years ago) just for like an oil change, they scan your VIN to see what open recalls are available for your car. I cant find it online but I remember it took like 4 hours and they gave me a loaner.

I called Hyundai recall center and they said only the windshield wiper assembly was a recall on my car. They said water can get past a seal if it deteriorates which can damage a circuit board and cause a failure. Here is AZ rain is not common. He also said that Hyundai extended the warranty on that item to 10 years/100,000 miles to any owner. No record of a recall on any part of the central locking system exists according to them. I am still interested in your experience, so let me know. Thanks!

Again, I just went to get an oil change (here in SC) and they said "hey there is a recall on the door lock" I said okay. That was it. The only other recall I had was the failing brake system (That was scary).

how long ago? I wonder why it is not showing up with NHTSA or with Hyundai? Thanks

I have a 2012 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 with Tech Package and I have the same door issue noted here. My key fobs no longer lock/unlock the passenger side door. Clearly its the door actuator and I bought the car used in 2013 with 8,000 miles and started to see this issue by 2015 and got too lazy to lookup this issue.

Will try to call the dealer to see if this door actuator issue is included for my car. I googled a vin and recall lookup and do not see anything for my VIN; any other website?

I called the Hyundai Dealership and got nowhere with the Door issue. Mind posting your dealership info to see if they know anything as there is not Campaign that they were able to pullup for the Door Actuator issue and said it would be $140 to diagnose and more to fix...

Maybe this issue is considered a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) and not a recall? You might find Hyundai TSB's on Hyundai's website somewhere.

Okay following the bread crumbs I see the TSBs for the model year:

and this specific one for the Latch:

Sounds like merely an adjustment which nonetheless i'll check out as my door lock does move just doesn't engage from lock to unlock and unlock to lock. I think TSBs come out of your pocket after warranty but regardless this one isn't replacing anything per say....

PS. Other TSBs look to be recently released and 1 for maps is interesting but still think we'd have to pay as it stands?
