  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Early Owner Feedback

Ahhh, a shift pattern on the shifter knob, rather than a gate on the shifter, or "gated shifter"...a bit different. See Google Images' "shift gate".

Way to suck the fun out of everything. The big picture here is that arguing about the lack of manual control on an automatic transmission is hilarious. If you want manual control of your transmission, that is very easily accomplished by checking the correct option box when you get your car!

Lastly, your user name is how my 4-year-old would say "Diluted".

^ I about shit my pants on that one. I guess kinda like your 4-year-old. Well...maybe not...probably outgrew that. Anyhoo...funny stuff.

You're quite right, of course; even if a bit touchy.

But I can be touchy, too: What does the four-year-old have against vets who served as advisors to Vietnamese Infantry Divisions? ("Dai Uy", Vietnamese for Captain, has been my "handle" for almost 50 years.)

^ It's a f'ing joke dude...relax. Picture an infant saying "diluted"...it would sound like your user name. Has nothing to do with race, religion, politics.

Anyone know if kids in booster seats had any issues in th back. Considering the G80 for a little more rear space. But the G70 has the overall feel I want

I have two booster seats in my G70, one for my 9-year-old son and one for my 4-year-old daughter. At least, when she isn't being assaulted by Vietnam veterans and has to hide in the trunk ;)

I've had two full back "fullysize?" kid seats in the back, that is very doable. With the seat anchors it's super easy.. the middle seat though...

Trying to get three kids in any combo "seat only booster" or otherwise will take some trial and error. We don't have a ton of room back there.

I didn’t want to introduce a new thread to share my thoughts, so I’ll revive this thread because it’s here.

Almost 2 weeks into G70 ownership, I’d like to share my (crazy) thoughts.

5 Stages of G70 Ownership

1. Denial; that this car is not only as great as, but better than advertised. 🤭

2. Anger; that I got impatient, bought a BMW and waited so long to see the “error of my ways.” 😡

3. Bargaining; that “we should take my car” and making up plenty of other excuses to drive the G70. 😇

4. Depression; that during the day, I have to stay in my home office and do work, rather than drive the G70 back and forth to the office (and lunch and the gym and...) 😢

5. Acceptance; that Genesis really hit a home run with this car and to simply get in and enjoy the ride! 😎

Got lots of insight from this site when I was purchasing my car, so just thought I'd try to make a contribution.

Came out of an Infiniti Q60 Red Sport Coupe and purchased a Genesis G70 3.3T in Siberian Ice. Other cars I was considering was a Mercedes E450 coupe and an M340. I started by looking at the Genesis just for completeness, but at the end, the price/value equation won me over. Brand cache couldn’t make up the 20-25k gap in the vehicles.
It's been about a month and a few thousand km's, so I'm by no means an expert, but have enough road time to provide early owner feedback.

- From a power perspective, I'd say it's probably on par with my previous car, and even feels a little bit more aggressive in sport mode. The handling in sport was also a big surprise. I've driven it pretty hard, and this car feels glued to the ground and wants to go. I honestly expected it to be a slight step down in this respects….but it keeps up!

- Esthetically, I’m not sure it turns too many heads – and not sure I care. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a nice looking car, def gets some looks, and I personally like it more every day. One stand out in this respect is the colour…I’ve had more people comment on the Siberian Ice…colour choice was a home run. (…and 25% tints all around was a good call too…good privacy, and doesn’t scream drive-by shooting)

- Probably the second most comfortable car I’ve sat in. (first being an Acura Legend, in case someone’s wondering) Seats are perfect…everything is well positioned and convenient. I spend lots of time in traffic and in grandpa mode (aka comfort mode), and while it doesn’t pull like sport mode, it’s quiet and takes anything the road can throw at it quietly and comfortably.

- Features wise, has everything I need….highly customizable, and easy to use. (except the heated arm rests in the Mercedes…but frigid forearms doesn’t rank on my concerns list) Noticed some people complaining about the app. Guess it’s personal…but I really don’t care if it takes a minute from when I send a request, for that operation to actually take place. Seems like a negligible gripe to me.

- Need to mention the infotainment system…as I read lots of criticisms on this point that it’s a clone of the Hyundai system. I’m a tech guy….and while maybe it doesn’t have the ‘graphics’ prowess of other systems, usability and function are actually great....don’t know how I slummed it for the last 4 years and survived.

Wouldn’t be a real review if I didn’t share some of what I perceive to be shortcomings…and actually only a couple so far.

- Gas mileage isn’t bad….it actually sucks ‘SUV style’. I get about 13.3km/100km…mixed city/hwy. I’m not concerned about the money for gas (I saved 25k…and the price/value ratio would still hold), but it’s amplified by the fact that the tank is 15Ls smaller than my old tank, and 1L/100km less efficient. Time spent for an extra 37 fill ups over 4 years….makes me want to punch a Genesis engineer in the face. (just one though)

- Wireless charging pad….have read some mixed reviews, and haven’t toyed around with it too much, but not stellar. Not sure if it’s coil placement or materials….but limited success charging several phone models. Not really a game changer to me.

To sum it up….I’d make the same decision again. Quick, fun, and comfortable. Nearly everything is as great as I expected from the reviews….and when I’m complaining to myself about the extra fill ups, with the savings by my math, Genesis is paying me about 100 bucks an hour to do it…only unhappy guy here is the engineer I dummied earlier.

Great review and entry post, dbh.

Reminding those here that to convert liters/100km use 235 as the numerator. Same with mpg to L/100km. 235 is the numerator. The result is not exact as 235 is rounding but it is close enough. 235 as the numerator

Yeah, really good take on the car. I'm a big fan of Siberian Ice too. Assume you're in Canada? If so, where?

Had to be the L/100km or spelling of 'colour' that gave it away....I'm in Toronto.

Small gas tank is my biggest issue. Needs to be at least 5 liters more. 10 liters would make it perfect!
Plus I preferred the seat comfort of my Acura TL SH-AWD more.

Overall i love this car and do not regret making this decision at all when it comes to picking the G70 over the german cars i looked at.

My biggest issues so far are

Fuel economy on Sport Mode is really bad, i mean really bad but you should only drive in this mode when you are ready to rock and roll so fuel probably wont be a concern but compared to previous cars in sport modes this has sub par fuel economy. Even Comfort is not good on fuel but eco is pretty good so i either drive in Sport or Eco.

My only other con is that i am starting to see a bit of wear on the outside seat bolster for my left leg/hip on the driver side. I am about 230lbs so a little heavy lol but i should not see wear this early on the leather bolster.

I do have a couple small gripes that i included on my youtube vids but those are just normal little wishes i would have liked

Everyone that sees the car loves it and the performance in Sport Mode is insane, if you have not test driven yet you should do so, if you have any questions let me know
