Just returned from a 1600 mile road trip out to Las Vegas for some fun and also to get the oil line recall done to our 21 3.3T RWD Sport Prestige. Owned a 23 2.0 AWD Sport but was totaled, and was given a 2024 2.5 RWD loaner from Genesis Las Vegas (who did a nice job w/ the recall).
So now that I've had time w/ a 21, and 23, a 24 in all 3 engine types and drive types, and styling versions I think I can't give a few remarks about what I like and don't like about those 3.
The 21~I prefer the sporty styling, especially the front projector headlights and the rear taillights and
diffuser area and like the rear heated seats. The smaller touchscreen is just fine (I believe the 21s don't suffer from that delaminating screen of the 19&20 models) but once you see the larger one you won't be as happy w/ the smaller one lol. I also like the side boomerang vents, and the simple but great looking black 5 spoke wheels. Brembo brakes are great once you change the pads, the stock pads work ok but are prone to uneven pad deposits, but changing them out is simple.
The 23~prefer the larger touchscreen, didn't like the front grill too much, but in black they don't seem as large, which I prefer, and I wish they had the black grill option on the 21s. Not sure why they don't include rear heated seats after 21 but too bad they did that. Don't really like or dislike that lower side vent, seems a little off but no biggie there. I like the machined aluminum panels on the door and console, has a nice look. The split spoke black Sport wheels are ok, not as nice as the 19-21s for a sport look, but not bad, and tougher to clean. The one area where they really dropped the ball is the rear end, that large flat plastic running up from the bumper just looks cheap & unfinished IMO. The whole 22+ styling fits in well with the current Genesis lineup so I understand why they softened and rounded a lot of the previous styling elements, just removed some of the sport touches I think.
The 24~not much different but the busy black and aluminum wheels IMO are atrocious, just too much going on there, hides the nice Brembo calipers and extra work to keep them clean. The flatscreen HVAC panel looks a bit cheap and isn't as easy to use when driving, the knobs on the previous years are just better!
2.0T~Not a bad motor, especially if you were to source one of manual transmission models, but in the AT equipped version, especially in AWD it's not a quick drive, need to rev it up quite a bit to keep the power where you need it and plan ahead for any passing. For a daily driver the motor is fine and the car is nimble enough to still be fun, just need to work a lot harder.
2.5T~Not much time with it but seems to be a much better choice for the base powerplant, has decent low end torque so getting the car up and running is pretty easy and pretty quick. I think this would be a good choice for a more economical and faster version of the previous base motor, and they have a Brembo package w/ this motor too so a good upgrade all around. Not a great sounding motor when getting on it however.
3.3T~This is what I would consider the perfect motor for the G70 Chassis, great low end torque, really opens up w/ the twin turbo, and the 8AT really works well with it. The sound is muted by the stock mufflers, and it's not a real sweet
exhaust note, but not obtrusive either, that's for sure. have heard some modified
Stinger exhaust that show some decent potential for
exhaust improvements, so they're out there. We get over 31mpg on the hwy without much trouble too, so the mpg worries really aren't too accurate unless you're running in sport most of the time or clogged in traffic. Here's some recent proof
