If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Early Owner Feedback

Oh, that's cool, but that doesn't make it a $39K new car... but glad you got it for that. Ha ha. I was pissed at the $2K surcharge for 2023, while taking out the heated steering wheel, but at least I got ventilated seats, which the 2022 didn't have, and was a deal-breaker for us. Oh well. The good news so far is no recalls on this car, so just hope it turns out reliable. I'm tired of having to swap vehicles every year or two due to major mechanical defects. My stupid '22 Santa Fe Calligraphy has a recall on the DCT tranny, but Hyundai is not doing anything (other than a gimmicky 'software update' that doesn't fix the issue), unless it craps out. Not comforting when it's my travel vehicle, so might have to sell the damn thing yet again (only have 6 months with it). I had a similar issue with a 2016 2.0T Optima SX-L too (the fix didn't prevent engine failure either), but hope Hyundai fixed those engines for good by now. We'll see :).
Well in my crazy 😜 opinion I only paid 47,335 minus 7500 so it is more than 39,000. However, I think of it as a 39,000 car anyway. I wish you had purchased yours at a better price. Anyway, I truly suffered with the dealer but made out in the end. I wish you had better luck with the mechanical side of your Hyundai experience. This is my second Gen and so far so good. My friends also have had similar hood luck with their Gens as well.

Which trim level did you get? I searched for a few weeks to find the right color combo/price. I really liked siberian ice but couldn't find one in the state with the black and red stitching interior. I cant do light interior it would be dirty fast lol. I had an Alta white lined up but when i got to the dealer and saw the hallasan green in person I fell in love so I began searching for that color with the black interior. I had contacted 4 different dealers and was pitting then against each other. One dealer was giving me 5k off sticker but said it was time sensitive and we were in Hawaii on vacation and didn't appreciate them calling me over and over while I'm on vacation. They wouldn't honor the price when I got home so I took their offer and parlayed it into the same deal with a different dealer who didn't put a time constraint on the deal. I got my brand new 2023 3.3t rwd sport prestige for 50,345. I felt that was a decent deal as most genesis dealers don't wanna budge from sticker especially when there isn't many halalsan greens in the state. But im beyond happy with the car. I'm excited to join this community of amazing people. Congrats to you as well for your purchase. Cheers 🍻

Mileage stinks, but gets better after a LONG break-in, I get 19 in the city "if I behave". Approaching 2 years on my 2022 GV70 3.5 Sport Prestige, would buy it again tomorrow. Using Adams Advanced Graphene ceramic spray every six months and the Uyuni White pearl finish looks brand new. To me the thousands I saved versus a comparable loaded BMW X3m40i/Audi SQ5/MB GLC43 goes towards the gas. Genesis does need to work on their back end and dedicated dealerships, but so far they are making great vehicles.

I'm currently in the deciding phase on whether or not to buy a G70. I've put down my deposit, and have been talking for a few days with DJ here in Edmonton. I know that there are a couple of owners that have had their cars for a short while now, and I'm curious how the cars have been. Does everything work as advertised? Any issues? Or conversely, is it even better now that you're finding any nice little surprises with the car?
End of April I purchased a 3.3 L Prestige Sport in Calgary down the road from you

Just had my first service completed at 10,000 km and here's what I can tell you from a similar market

I leaned heavily on people here and on the Reddit G70 page for reviews and thoughts while I was making my decision.
I was not coming from a sports car or luxury car background, I was an F150 and Ford guy who had recently had a bad experience switching from F150s to a Subaru Forester and wanted to explore the sport/luxury market.
I didn't even know anything about Genesis when I started looking at G80s and G70s

I still don't know a ton about Genesis but have dove into all of the G70 instructional videos on Youtube, read my owners manual and asked all the questions fellow owners would tolerate from me.

Firstly - this is my daily driver and will continue to be
Work and back daily is 85km round trip

My views on the regular complaints;

Fuel consumption - I avg high 8 to low 9L/100km and I run in comfort mode 99% of the time.
Like many others have said, buying a twin turbo sports car of a 5.0L engine will consume fuel much faster than owning a 4cyl compact sedan.
My 3.3 L gets better fuel economy than my Forester 2.2L did
But I don't race it, I mean I punch it when I need to pass and because well, it's a lot of fun but I don't run the car hard.

Trunk - yep it sucks IF you need to regularly haul a lot of gear. I just hauled four winter tires on rims home from picking them up and they fit with the rear seats leaned forward with little or no issue. Can I put two stand bags of gold clubs in the trunk?
Not without folding the seats forward - but I knew that getting into this and I don't haul a lot so I went in with my eyes open.

Rear seats - yeah, there's not a lot of leg room, BUT when I test drove, I sat my 20 something kids in the back - both of who are 6' and taller and while they said they wouldn't want to take a long trip in the rear, there's room for their legs. Their feet felt more squished having to slide under the front seats.

Service - a lot of complaints mostly on Reddit about after sales service and service departments. Most of these seem to be in the US, but I can say that the sales person I bought from is always reachable when I have questions and I just had my first "valet service" and it went off without a hitch. Nice change to have the car returned detailed.

I wish I'd researched out a little more about how expensive some replacement items are (not there yet but hearing horror stories) like brake shoes/rotors and windshield. Likely wouldn't have changed my mind but I should have checked further

The car is a TON of fun to drive and gets a ton of looks because there aren't a lot of them in Calgary and the surrounding area. It's not "just another Beemer or Mercedes

I've had no complaints. This will also be my first ever winter running winter tires so I'll get to see what that brings.
Again - some of the folks here have given great advice about types of tires and rims and it was pretty easy to just search the previous threads and read.

Have fun and enjoy

After 250 miles Driving this new car.
Here's what I didn't expect after reading reviews.
-This car is more a sports than luxury. But I love it.
-Radio is not amazing but at least its very good.
-I averaged 26 mpg highway driving across 100 miles
-The seats are nice but a bit too flat for my bony butt. Still though, not discomforting.
-The car is a perfect amount of flash and incognito.
-The lane assist and cruise control works perfect. I had no idea a self driving car would make driving so much more comfortable. I never thought a finger hold on a steering wheel and foot on a pedal was so taxing until this car lessened it. Love.
-I've had HUD before this one is perfect.
-I think the ride and noise is better than I expected.
-The car can be stupid fast. Makes ya want to race a Vette. but I wont.
-The surround view, backup view, lane change view are all amazing and I feel blessed to have such an advanced car for only a bit more money.
-Tons more setup options than I expected.
-After glancing at the mechanics working in Cherry Hill Genesis I have to judge that books cover as upstanding and trustworthy . That's a great start.

Genesis parts are expensive from the dealer but with some sleuthing you can find them much cheaper elsewhere. Aftermarket Brake pads are the way to go and not expensive.

I was just given a 2024 SP 2.5t as a loaner for the last 3 days. Never driven the 2.0, I was always shopping for the 'mid' power level in this segment (3.3t, S4/S5, M340i), but driving the 2.5 reaffirmed my preference for the 3.3. I have a 2023 3.3 SP.

The 2.5t certainly wasn't slow. I think the biggest daily driver item I noticed is the low end torque. In comfort, the transmission generally seems to want to keep RPM around 1100-1300. The 2.5t torque wall hits at about 1600-1700, so I found a quick medium throttle burst usually means waiting for a slowish upshift. With the 3.3 peak torque starts at 1300 rpm so under the same conditions it will just pull without a shift delay. Sport or sport plus can help, but then not so great engine noise is much more obtrusive.

Probably a non-issue for most, but the difference stood out in daily driving where you might want quick bursts of accel here and there.

The other big difference I noticed is the sound. I actually think the 2.5t is louder than the 3.3t with the valves closed, but quieter than with the valves open. I don't think the sound is very good, especially at higher RPMs, just a generic 4cyl noise. I'm probably spoiled by how good the 1.4t multiair sounds on the 124 abarth. The 3.3 is by no means a great sounding engine, but back to back IMO is much better than the 2.5.

Interior changes I don't mind the functionality of the HVAC controls, but I think the design is not integrated well and just tacked on. There are a bunch of small tactile changes, most of the knobs are new and slightly revised. Maybe to align them with other models in the brand.

The driving assist and radio buttons are swapped to the opposite side of the steering wheel which was annoying but only because I was used to the opposite.

The center console buttons above the radio look nice, but are not soft touch or metal, just basic plastic. Frameless mirror is a step up. I like the 2022-2023 sport wheels better than the new ones.

All in all probably the same conclusion most others have made. If you were going to get a 2.0, I'm sure the 2.5 is a good step up for 2024. The 3.3t, I don't see any real reason to prefer 2024 beyond personal preference.

Even though the power gap is much closer on paper, I recommend test driving both engines. They are quite different in the real world.

Good review. I went from a 2021 to 2024 both totally loaded 3.3s. I agree with your comments on the new controls. To, me functionally they are not a step forward and in some regards are a step back.

There are things I like better. But they are subjective things. The good thing is that its still a great car at any price.

You gotta fiddle with the radio settings to get it to do what you want. For example, I have mine set to -4, -4, +8 and then at the top right of the radio screen, select QLS on stage or audience.

I agree that it takes a lot of fiddling. And my 2024 seems different than the 2021 i just traded. Your settings look a little extreme, but it costs me nothing to try them. Thx!

BTW, we bought a new Expedition last summer that I admit I spent what I thought was a ridiculous amount of money for, but we bought it because I needed something to pull a travel trailer. Ours has the top of the line B&O system (there are two B&O s). I’ve owned a few vehicles with high end factory systems and this one is the best. Who would have seen that coming!

I really wish the upgraded sound system had an actual EQ instead of just bass/mid/treb. I like the bass, but almost feel like it could use some low end rolloff. And to me it sounds like the treble adjustment affects too much of the upper midrange

Purchased my CPO G70 3.3T last week. My early review is that I love to drive this car....wish it had wireless car play/andriod auto. The wireless charger seems useless. Only burned 1/2 a tank so far, but will get the real world MPG after the new car fun factor driving subsides...lol.
We are coming from an Accord 2.0T, which was no slouch, but this car is so much better in every way. I am hoping the dealer service will be satisfactory-the buying process was excellent. We do have a standalone dealer in my town, but they share service with Hyundai.
We chose this car over the Acura TLX simply bc it was so fun to drive. The Genesis dealer was across from the Acura dealer and I just stopped by to see the G70. I was really impressed by the test drive....three days later we own a "new to me" Genesis.

Congrats. I just got my second 3.3 Sport Prestige. I had a three year lease on a 2021 and did a new lease on a 2024. Ive been a huge car guy for over 50 years and its very rare Ibuy two of the same cars in a row.

But nothing comes close without spending 20% or more money. And even then i don't think they are any better. My previous four cars were $75,000 Audi and BMWs. I like this car every bit as much.

Ya know, I didn't what you were referring to (OLS) Stage setting. ITs not accessible through the System setting/Sound menus. Last night I said to the wifey, push that Reference word/button atop the Rt side of the screen and it switched the sound to stage or audience and I was instantly twice as happy with the sound system. You nailed it! What a difference, night and day. Good eye!,,,,,, I mean ear!

Just returned from a 1600 mile road trip out to Las Vegas for some fun and also to get the oil line recall done to our 21 3.3T RWD Sport Prestige. Owned a 23 2.0 AWD Sport but was totaled, and was given a 2024 2.5 RWD loaner from Genesis Las Vegas (who did a nice job w/ the recall).
So now that I've had time w/ a 21, and 23, a 24 in all 3 engine types and drive types, and styling versions I think I can't give a few remarks about what I like and don't like about those 3.
The 21~I prefer the sporty styling, especially the front projector headlights and the rear taillights and diffuser area and like the rear heated seats. The smaller touchscreen is just fine (I believe the 21s don't suffer from that delaminating screen of the 19&20 models) but once you see the larger one you won't be as happy w/ the smaller one lol. I also like the side boomerang vents, and the simple but great looking black 5 spoke wheels. Brembo brakes are great once you change the pads, the stock pads work ok but are prone to uneven pad deposits, but changing them out is simple.

The 23~prefer the larger touchscreen, didn't like the front grill too much, but in black they don't seem as large, which I prefer, and I wish they had the black grill option on the 21s. Not sure why they don't include rear heated seats after 21 but too bad they did that. Don't really like or dislike that lower side vent, seems a little off but no biggie there. I like the machined aluminum panels on the door and console, has a nice look. The split spoke black Sport wheels are ok, not as nice as the 19-21s for a sport look, but not bad, and tougher to clean. The one area where they really dropped the ball is the rear end, that large flat plastic running up from the bumper just looks cheap & unfinished IMO. The whole 22+ styling fits in well with the current Genesis lineup so I understand why they softened and rounded a lot of the previous styling elements, just removed some of the sport touches I think.

The 24~not much different but the busy black and aluminum wheels IMO are atrocious, just too much going on there, hides the nice Brembo calipers and extra work to keep them clean. The flatscreen HVAC panel looks a bit cheap and isn't as easy to use when driving, the knobs on the previous years are just better!

2.0T~Not a bad motor, especially if you were to source one of manual transmission models, but in the AT equipped version, especially in AWD it's not a quick drive, need to rev it up quite a bit to keep the power where you need it and plan ahead for any passing. For a daily driver the motor is fine and the car is nimble enough to still be fun, just need to work a lot harder.

2.5T~Not much time with it but seems to be a much better choice for the base powerplant, has decent low end torque so getting the car up and running is pretty easy and pretty quick. I think this would be a good choice for a more economical and faster version of the previous base motor, and they have a Brembo package w/ this motor too so a good upgrade all around. Not a great sounding motor when getting on it however.

3.3T~This is what I would consider the perfect motor for the G70 Chassis, great low end torque, really opens up w/ the twin turbo, and the 8AT really works well with it. The sound is muted by the stock mufflers, and it's not a real sweet exhaust note, but not obtrusive either, that's for sure. have heard some modified Stinger exhaust that show some decent potential for exhaust improvements, so they're out there. We get over 31mpg on the hwy without much trouble too, so the mpg worries really aren't too accurate unless you're running in sport most of the time or clogged in traffic. Here's some recent proof

Great review summaries for all three powertrains! I do love my 3.3T! Wouldn't be happy with the 2.0 or 2.5.
