  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello all. So I know we are very limited with tuning options. But I have a very well know tuner who is willing to give us an opportunity to have our cars tuned here in the states. I will need as many 5.0 and 4.6 gen owners to chime in here so that he knows it's worth his time cracking the Ecu and selling the canned tunes. My car will be the guinea pig if enough of us are interested. It will be dynoed before and after. There will be video of course (I vlog here and there on YouTube) @ton_finnhead. Increased rev limiter, speed limiter, ignition timing, fuel tuning, and also the TCM tunes will be am option. Chime in guys! It's hard to grab this guy's attention but a quick soon and ride along in my 5.0 has him toying with the idea.

When I checked into it the cost for an ECU/TCU tune it was about $1500 canadian. The power gain was about 15 to 25 hp. ECU tune requires a new ECU module. That was by someone who has already cracked the ECU.
Canned tunes were available in the past but did not get a good feedback, hit or miss.
Many discussions on here, tuning is more beneficial for a turbo engine. Normally aspirated engines like ours get minimal gains.

Rear mount or turbos after primary cats are definitely possible. Remember the 5.0 coyotes were shitted on for a few years until boost were thrown on them. Low boost on a gen would definitely be worth it on a gen. But worse comes to worse I'll just keep everyone here updated on when I do go rear mounted turbo. *While the engines are fairly cheap of course

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Thats why I suggested the software be sold too. It could make this platform more open for forced induction. I'd love to go supercharged but no tuning is available for this at all.

As far as software I definitely don't see it happening anytime soon. But me and a few guys on YouTube have broken the 12 second mark for these cars without the tune. There may be a future soon for the platform being that we are beating charger 392 rt's from a roll now.

I would be interested in buying the canned tune. I texted the company in Canada they said you could send in your ecm and tcm and it would be cheaper than buying new ones but your car would down because they would have to send to South Korea. I checked on ebay you can get low miles ones reasonable you just have to make sure the part numbers on the ecu match. Then you would have the stock's ones for backup.

It seems people would rather show interest if it were boosted..... Sooo I'm on the works of mapping out a rear mounted turbo system being that I have access to this tuner and Dyno. We would finally get to see how durable the 5.0 is. I've done some tuning myself, mostly for Corvettes and the 2.0 turbo Cadillacs so I have some tuning experience to feel confident enough to pull it off. I data log my gen daily to learn it's behavior. I've even started running 10 gallons 93 to 4 gallons e85 and have seen the timing advance increase. The car has relearned the fuel trims fairly quickly for cruising. At wot it's safe because the gen requests such a rich amount of fuel 10.12 afr we actually are losing out on hp. The e85 blend has worked wonders

I would love to see these cars in the 12's. People make the claim all the time but I haven't seen a timeslip or video of one doing it. Mine ran 13.5@106mph with crappy 235 tires when I first bought it.

Join the draggy app. I was actually going to go to the track today. 2 confirmed 12s and I've gotten 13.04 at 109mph spinning with traction control kicking in. 90° weather with 1900 DA

Hello Tonfinnhead, I am interested, I have a 2012 5.0 with 152k kms.

Still data logging daily. One of the biggest things me and the possible tuner have found is..... We are not even getting full throttle. The throttle body is only opening to 83-86% when wot. This is a trick Mercedes did with the amg 63 which caused it to produce 400+ HP. The later years they tuned it to open to about 97% and some timing tweaks which made it a 518hp engine. There are so many similarities the gens 5.0 shares with NA Mercedes engines. I'm sure most of the tunes on the market simply modify this to get more HP

Very interested 2019, 5.0

I ran 13.6 here in Vegas at near 3k above sea level and with out launching and 20x11 wheels with . I'm for sure at sea level and a good launch would be mid to low 12s .

That's solid. I'm currently sitting in the staging lanes at my drag strip to get some baseline times before the tune.
