  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey all.

I read some treads about lighting and haven't come across any answers for my question. Maybe I missed it, so I apologize in advance if this has been answered.

If I wanted to switch license plate lights, courtesy lights and trunk lights to LED would i need to buy any kit or just an LED that is the same size as the ones originally there.

Also, does anyone know of a good place to buy good quality LED in Toronto.

Thanks!

Cheers,

I just bought LED preplacement lamps at the Auto store. However there are some really good post on this forum showing installations and sources for bulbs and replacement sizes..

Concerning the license plate lamps I placed blue tinted silicone tubes over each so as to dim them some. I have a white car and brighter lamps really glare.

Thanks guys!

Which light is considered difficult to change?

Thanks.

I had the hardest time getting the glove box housing out and getting the bulb housings open. The plate ones are also tricky getting out.

I dont plan on changing the glove. I am only doing the trunk, plates, and door courtesy lights.

For the plates, you unscrew the two screws and whats the trick after that?

The plate bulb is inside a housing. Once you unscrew the 2 screws the housing needs to be removed (pulled out of the recess) that's the tricky part it is a tight fit.

I think I read that the 2010 Genesis has a headlight delayed turn off? You know, the headlights go out after you've had time to exit the car and get into the house! I miss that feature on my 2009 4.6 and wonder if it could be "fixed"? Am I the only one missing this feature? Also, why aren't the push buttons on the mirror backlighted? Even my chevy truck has both these features.

Hey, all it takes is M O N E Y !

Holsen, is this only on the 2010 Genny? (I drive an 09) I'm not sure what the "light stack" is. Perhaps the switch or is there a menu setting?

I believe he's referring to the physical light switch stack next to your steering wheel.

Holsen,
I have it set to "Auto" on my '09 all the time, and the lights go off as soon as I turn the ignition off.
I also miss this feature.

Hey Grit,
I drive 2010 4.6 with Tech and I'm in Canada so I don't know if it's wired anydifferently than your 09. Anyway, there was no menu setting for the lights off delay. When I refer to the light stack, I just mean the the light controls on the turn signal lever left of the wheel on. On my 2010 when I have the lights set to "auto" they turn off on a 30 second delay after powering off the ignition. When I have the light switch in any position other than auto, they go out instantly.

I recall reading that is a 2010 feature...not on the '09's. We leave our '09 on auto and the lights turn off immediately when turning off the car. I'm kind of surprised that this simple feature wasn't included...as well as DRL.

Thanks for the reply. Guess I'll have to upgrade to a 2010 ... right?
