Depends on how much you drive in snow and how the terrain is. When I lived in CT and had a 24 mile commute on a couple of long steep hills, with AWD I could pass the other cars slipping and sliding.Dont get me wrong folks.. I dont want the 3.8 unless I am getting AWD..I am just trying to see if the AWD is enough to give up on having the power of the 5.0
A good set of All Season tires is really all you need. ABS & Traction/Stability Control are your friends. Besides, even a AWD car can hydroplane. We get plenty of rain in Houston, I've never wanted for traction...I live in arkansas so snow is not the problem.. im just thinking about rain and wet roads..is RWD enough or should i deal with the drop in power for the security of AWD
If I was 25, no question I'd go for the 5.0. Some decades later, the 3.8 is a pretty decent ride with adequate power.I live in arkansas so snow is not the problem.. im just thinking about rain and wet roads..is RWD enough or should i deal with the drop in power for the security of AWD
I'm over 50. I still subscribe to the fighter pilot's mantra - "Speed is Life"If I was 25, no question I'd go for the 5.0. Some decades later, the 3.8 is a pretty decent ride with adequate power.
I've always bought the most powerful engine available. Since I tend to buy cars used, there's little price difference at that point. The big question is "will you miss it if you don't have it"? I've driven all my life, and except for the military, I've never driven an AWD vehicle. Do I miss it? Well, you can't miss what you don't have. On the other hand, I've owned big HP RWD vehicles, and I've missed the hell out of the extra power when I was forced to drive a smaller engine car. That's why I bought my 5.0. Luxury meets HP. And as the old adage goes, there's no replacement for displacement.![]()
Especially the 2015 5.0 ultimate model with the active sport suspension. They are becoming rare models to find now. V8 power and handles very well in Sport mode while being a smooth comfy ride in Normal/Eco drive mode.5.0 any day ? If i can go back in time , i will get a 5.0 .
Also the V8 engines are entering the legendary stage ... they are super rare comodity . Get it while you can and enjoy , otherwise our next cars are going to be electric.
The other day I was goofing around with my '15 5.0 Ultimate by doing a whole round of errands in ECO mode in town (stop & go ~ 35/40mph) & driving super smooth like I was a chauffeur... I was shocked to see that my trip mileage was shown to be 20.1mpg!Especially the 2015 5.0 ultimate model with the active sport suspension. They are becoming rare models to find now. My 2015 average up to 22mpg in ECO mode mixed city/highway driving if i drive the speed limits and not like an race car driver. Not bad for a 420+hp V8 powered large sedan. The other day I was goofing around with my '15 5.0 Ultimate by doing a whole round of errands in ECO mode in town (stop & go ~ 35/40mph) & driving super smooth like I was a chauffeur... I didn't even get near the highway, that's what surprised me.My 2015 average up to 22mpg in ECO mode mixed city/highway driving if i drive the speed limits and not like an race car driver. Not bad for a 420+hp V8 powered large sedan.
This will help break it down -Test drove them both today and it was 5.0 no doubt! There was just no comparison. I have seen a bunch online that have Option Group 5. Who can tell what all that entails.. Also..is the head-up display only on the Ultimate?
I've got the 5.0 ultimate AWD, comes with heated front and rear seats, rear sun shade, even HUD...have yet to drive it in the winter - but looking forward to it (I put on snows -same size all around even though it's suppose to be staggered -reused my stock rims). In the wet and dry, she's pretty sure footed. The power is insanely fun...yes I'm not hammering it all the time, but when I do (few times per drive -its my DD) it's worth every penny..also it sounds like a beast with the stock mufflers and while in sport mode. The price of 93 octane gas and the V8s fuel economy is a bit of a hit, but I make good money so why cheap out?I'm over 50. I still subscribe to the fighter pilot's mantra - "Speed is Life"![]()
Yeah. You don't buy one of these things & expect it to get mileage like a Prius.... Still, my 5.0 V8 gets better mileage than my old 3.7 V6 Infiniti G37s Sedan - even in the city.I've got the 5.0 ultimate AWD, comes with heated front and rear seats, rear sun shade, even HUD...have yet to drive it in the winter - but looking forward to it (I put on snows -same size all around even though it's suppose to be staggered -reused my stock rims). The 5.0 was the only way I could go after I test drove them. Just a different league and makes the car feel more refined. Helps to not have much in the way of winter weather though.Yeah. Agreed. I think that the V8 makes it the complete package... I tend to always buy used cars with the largest engine that I can get. There's not that much of a mileage penalty either. The 5.0 was the only way I could go after I test drove them. Just a different league and makes the car feel more refined.
