2012 Genesis Possible transmission problem, help.

Good evening, my Genesis has 126k miles I take great care of it. Fully synthetic oil, etc for some reason once I get to 4K rpm’s it hesitates then it kicks/jerks then goes normally. What could be causing this? Any recommendations on what I need to do? I plan on keeping it for much linger. Thank you for your time and help.

A bunch of things could be causing this.

Bad gas (it is a thing and does happen to some people).
Vacuum leak somewhere.
Sensor not sending correct data intermittently.
Clogging Catalytic Converter.
Loose airbox connection(s).

I've been through each of these and they've all caused similar symptoms of sporadic hesitation.

If its the typical hyundai 8 speed slippage problem you should see the RPM flair up a bit during some shifts. When its working normal the rpm should never jump go up between shifts.

Hi, I have a 13 Genesis 3.8 same transmission. I think there's a design flaw in the 8-speed used with these cars. I sometimes suspect mine is slipping too or acting funny but I think it's just normal for kind of a crappy transmission. As long as it doesn't affect the safety of you, I wouldn't bother getting it diagnosed because their just gonna replace the transmission and ask for like $2000+ if you go to a stealership. Before you do that, change the automatic transmission fluid and the differential fluid which can apparently help and is preventative maintenance.
