  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

GV80 Bugs & Other Issues

Glad you had it checked out! Something is wrong! Keep us posted!

Anyone else notice the demon eyes staring back from the 3d cluster? Most video reviews say it's not visible but I see it clearly in person.
You're one of the few gifted individuals who can see infrared lights then.

Haha yes I'm fully aware that it's IR, that doesn't mean it isn't visible. This is typical of many near-IR LEDs out there - if there is enough energy it will show a red light.

The old tv remotes do this when the room was dark enough.

Took delivery 12/30 3.5 Prestige only 310 miles....(100 miles back from the dealer) love this car. Had to go that far to get the colors I wanted. It satisfies all my technical needs and then some.

How is the 3D gauge? gimmick or really neat? worth it?

Well it depends on how you analyze it. There is definitely a 3D effect but not dramatic. Which I guess is a good thing otherwise it would be very distracting. The display is really sharp and bright very nice. There's a unique approach to the manner of information conveyed takes a while to get used to.

I just leased a GV80 Prestige on 12/3020. I put about 500 miles on it so far. Highway 75%, city 25%. so far mileage is slightly over 20 mpg. I am not an aggressive driver but my wife is.

We love the car. It draws attention every time we park it. I traded in a 2017 G90 Ultimate, which was the best car I ever had (mixed emotions about giving it up.)

The only problem I have encountered so far is with the USB audio function. On my G90 I had a flash drive, with my music collection. I plugged the same flash drive into the GV80 and I'm having problems. I'm getting messages that state the format is not compatible; the files are mp3s or m4as. the m4as seem to play. I reformatted two new flash drives and tried all the combinations that my Mac desktop offered. Still doesn't work. Next, I'll connect my iPhone directly and see if it works.

The only other thing I noticed is the engine noise when I stand in front of the car. It's quite loud. When I did the same with my G90, I couldn't even tell that it was running. However, the inside of the GV80 is very, very quiet - as advertised.

I just tested the system using my IPhone connected directly so Apple Play is activated. It works perfectly. Plays the two formats. What a great sound, even with recordings made 60 or so years ago; Ella Fitzgerald, for example

Johnlaur, you hit the nail on the head. I traded my 2018 G90 for the GV80. Really loved that G90 and if I had a 3 car garage down here i would have kept it along with the GV80. Too bad.

The reason I jumped in here, however, is that I too thought that the engine/fan noise from outside the car was excessive. Since I got the first car at my dealership they had nothing to compare it to and we scheduled a service appointment for tomorrow to check it out. Yesterday, Sunday, I got a call from the service department saying that after receiving a few more GV80s in the interim their techs had noticed the same noise and asked about it. Consequently, they all agreed that this awful noise is what it is (can't hear it inside) and canceled the appointment.

Finally, the thumb drive. I was able to unplug the thumb drive from my G90 and just plug it into the GV80. It contained music videos which I believe are MP4.

Just set up my digital key to my cell phone. Works great.
Why I need it...I don't know.
Just playing around with all this stuff is fun.

Small rattle from passenger side seatbelt panel in certain road frequency vibrations. To be honest have not investigated yet to see if is the panel or something else. Other than that 1,600 miles so far and no problems.
I've noticed a rattle from the passenger side as well. 1300 miles. I've yet to investigate it yet but I figured it was either the speaker rattling or the seatbelt panel.

Thank you MisterSteve. Interesting about the noisy engine. I imagine they will come up with a fix as more folks bring it up.

My flash music has either mp3s or m4as, which the catalog states are the only formats officially sanctioned. I'm sure a few others, such as MP4 play without any problems.

I thought the problem might be with the flash drive so I purchased a few new ones and ran some tests. I formatted them on my MAC desktop, using the recommendations in the Genesis manual. I tried every variation without success. It plays the M4A formatted files but not the mp3s. I can convert them but that's a lot of work. Are any of the files on your flash mp3s?

I have a call into the dealership. So hopefully they will come up with an answer.

I agree about keeping both cars;it was tempting. I live in North Carolina and my driving was up and down the east coast. During the first three years (has a 2017 Ultimate) I never saw another G90 on the road. It's nice to be in an exclusive club but lots of drivers missed out by not getting the G90.

It is - lots of toys. Seems as if it is not as intuitive as the G90. re the USB function seems as if there are too many steps to get to the destination. Still in the learning process. Yep, the digital key is not really necessary. Did you try to move the car back and forth without you in it?

Not yet I'm a little nervous about that. That'll be a more gradual and cautious task. I ordered the key card (don't really need that either) also so the fun will continue. I think I just enjoy the programing process.

You GV80 guys and new toys, lol. I can see it now, well officer, I was testing moving my car with no one behind the wheel driving while trying to listen to my USB music still plugged into my car via my phone, so sorry it ran into your squad car. I got all wrapped up in a good tune and the car was on its own for a moment. I wasn’t driving so you can’t give me the ticket...the car did it. Just messing with you guys. Have fun and let us know if you can send your GV80 down to 7-11 for a beer while you stay at home?
