  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Circle O was described as Hyundai Employee Pricing that was being extended to customers to move out the last of the 2020 inventory.
Ah thought that was Circle-M; all these damn letters.

Can anyone comment on if this is a good deal for a 2021 3.3T Sport AWD? I was originally planning to finance, but there is a lease cash offer available through 1/4/21. The exact car I want isn't in the state, so the salesman said they'd have to do a dealer exchange.

MSRP: $54,050
$3000 lease cash
$1000 holiday cash
$500 competitive brand incentive
$500 first responder

I was hoping to buy out after a month so I can take advantage of the lease cash (assuming average MF/RV). Do dealers typically match prices from Costco Auto or Edmunds? Can the incentives be stacked on top of the matched price? Do I have any negotiating leverage since he has to find the car for me? Should I put any money down since it's a lease, even though I'm planning to buy out after a month?

So MSRP... I'd vote no

Your dealer has no skin at all in this. Get another $2500 off and then maybe run with that. If you were to have Circle A pricing that would knock off about $3500 or so more off. Folks here have gotten to Circle A pricing without the certificate when they had hungry dealers who wanted a sale. I used Circle A on my 2020 G70 with basically the same discounts you have less the holiday cash and got about $7700 off MSRP of $52K. I also bought out the lease with cash after a month and avoided all the lease acquisition BS fees. I paid all my taxes and registration fees up front as money down, leased the balance for 30 days and paid about $70 in finance fees for the 30 day period when I paid Hyundai off. Hyundai won’t let you payoff a large amount at once, I paid my balance in two payments several days apart and about a month later they sent me my title.

Thanks for the reply! I'm also in DFW. Is there a way I can attain the Circle A from the dealer himself? Do you mind if I ask which dealership/salesperson you used?

I may still have a valid Circle A pin if someone wants to use it. I was told it expires at the end of December, but the description I saw somewhere is that it expires at the end of the month from when the certificate is generated using the pin. So, possibly still valid and it knocks $3500-$4500 off the MSRP. One dealer near me went about $1700 in addition to that, but it was a bit of a fight.

I also checked out True at. At least one TrueCar dealers went to the same discount level without Circle A. They just emailed me a listing of their cars and discounts. Bam! So, there are easy options if the Circle A pin doesn't work.

When leasing you still need to negotiate. The price used in the lease is called the Capitalized Cost, or Cap Cost in dealer speak. Use their language. The ingest rate gets expressed as the Money Factor. Usually you multiply by 24 to get the interest rate. You can't change it, but nice to know how it all works.

Also, see my list about 2020's. If you can find one, same car and save thousands.

Congrats! Tong was my guy too - he’s such an easy person to get along with and made it the best car purchase I’ve made yet. I can’t say enough about him and the Fitzgerald team.
Agreed, and I owe you a very formal and grateful THANK YOU. Your post led me to Circle O and Fitzgerald, and saved me about $7,500 over the best deal I could make otherwise. That's even after the cost of renting a car and driving long distance to pick it up. I think it's great how everyone in this forum are helping others make the best deal.

Don’t think dealers will hand out Circle A for Hyundai knows who issued them. I purchased from Genesis of Dallas, but unfortunately they gave up their Genesis franchise sometime last year or I would be glad to direct you to my salesman. Was really happy with my purchase from them so was disappointed they elected to not want to play ball with Genesis any longer.

Can I use your Circle A pin if no one has claimed it? I tried to PM but don't think I have enough posts yet. BTW, congrats on the purchase! Just saw your pics, the car looks amazing in that color.

here's a method to generate your own Circle A cert, "if you qualify"

Code:
copy + paste the below link & view one of the PDFs and follow instructions:

google.com/search?q=%22+hyundaicirclehelp%40hmausa.com%22+%22PIN%22

As I mentioned in my post in 2019:
... get Circle A pricing & use it to begin dealer price negotiations (it can be combined with the manufacturer incentives). This levels the playing field across all dealers, eliminating a lot of dealer markup BS. Then it's minor negotiations to get to a good number that all parties can agree to.
  • Important note: dealers will not discount below Circle A pricing, if you try to use the certificate due to restrictions from Hyundai and how they're compensated -- you need to try and get a dealer to match and beat Circle A pricing with a dealer discount, where they have more flexibility

The Circle A system can be used for research / inventory purposes (very accurate, iirc) and the number can become a baseline in negotiations...current discounts does not look very good although it may be just too early in the year.

I was able to get Circle A pricing + incentives, and going in Monday to sign paperwork!

I've been following your posts and others, and my plan is to do exactly what you did-- buy the lease out after a month. Can you expand on the balloon lease and how to get it, what it is? I've never heard of it before. Do I let the salesperson know my buyout plan, or play dumb? From what I understand, the dealership is not involved in the buyout thus wouldn't be incentivized to help me set it up.

Other questions I had:
How do I avoid getting hit with the sales tax again (TX resident)?
Does this process void/change the warranties that come with the car, or is everything transferable? (particularly the 10 yr powertrain)
Do you get 2 hard credit pulls?

Thanks everyone for your help so far! I will become a supporting member once I close this deal.

Good deal getting Circle A. Makes the process much smoother and easier. Not all dealers except them so just FYI. My dealer knew i wanted to buy the vehicle out right but with lease cash they could save me money. They came up with the balloon payment idea. I assume they only pulled credit once. Not exactly sure how they did all that other than I paid none of the normal lease BS acquisition fees. Only paid tax once. I think one of the things they did was hold off sending title info to DMV for 30 days. Normally title is issued with Genesis finance as lease holder I think which then causes a re-title issue down the road along with the possible sales tax question of owing more taxes once paid off. My title paperwork only had my name on it and no one else so pay attention to how your dealer does this. Your warranty is fine for you should be first owner. When I paid off the note with Genesis finance they made mention title paperwork had not been processed just yet which is why I think my dealer set on the paperwork for a while since they knew I was buying the vehicle after 30 days. I only paid for the car at Circle A price minus all incentives plus VIT, plus Texas sales tax, plus registration fees and a dealer prep fee of $200 I think. I paid cash for taxes and registration fees and accepted none of the extra warranties, carpet protection, paint treatment and dealer crap they want to sell you. The amount financed all added up correctly. Made two final payments to Genesis several days apart for they have a limit on one time payment max amounts. They will give you payoff amount when your ready which in my case included 3% interest or so for 30 days. It was cheap. Good luck and enjoy your car hope it all works out for you.

Great information. I thought you had to go through a bank or credit union to do the buyout (hence why I asked about 2 credit pulls), but it sounds like the dealer did everything for you. Hopefully I can replicate your experience.

Correct. Genesis finance had the lease so I never dealt with a bank. They have online access and payment ability once your all hooked in. Had I not paid it off in 30 days not sure what would have happened? Genesis never had time to send me payment coupons before I bought out the lease. Not sure how many people have done what I did or if Genesis might try to make it more difficult or not? They sold a new car so I figure everyone in the process was happy.

Dealership is now telling me that it doesn't make sense for them to go get the vehicle from another dealership using circle plan, because they would be at a loss. Said that they can do it on something they have in stock...but unfortunately they don't have the color I want. Any tips on how to proceed? Lease cash offers expire after today.

When I bought in Mar using Circle A, my car came from another dealer with no issues, but that was a sale not a lease.

They are feeding you a line. They don’t lose money when circle A is used since they are reimbursed from Genesis. They just may not make as much. They just want to clear their inventory.

I just messaged him back reiterating the one I wanted, and that I'd have to look elsewhere if he's not able to get it. And he basically said see ya later and good luck.

He is probably reading this form. I showed up with a WRITTEN internet quote to a dealership for mine - that the dealership wouldn't honor---till I walked out & started my car---
