  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Somebody punched a hole in my 2019 G70 grille with a trailer hitch. The dealer wants $800 to replace, but I can buy a factory grille for $300. The challenge is that I can't find any videos or instructions on how to install a new grille. I'm wondering how to do it. If anybody can point me in the right direction, I'd sure appreciate it!

Not for sure, but there are ‘how-to’s’ here on the front bumper removal if you think the grill has to remove from the back side. Some have said the entire front cover/bumper can be removed in less than an hour. There are pictures here too for I’ve seen some. Sorry I can’t point you to those threads at the moment but someone here with a better memory than me probably can.

Mess with the grill...recalibration needed...hence the cost.

Go through insurance...not your fault...probably cheaper paying the deductible.

Sorry Beefer but NO FAULT part of your insurance policy has NOTHING to do with the car. This is for medical care only. Check with your agent if you think my 30+ years in the insurance industry are incorrect. Not sure what you are relating this to but if someone hit the car and damaged the grill this is a COLLISION loss regardless of whether the owner did it or someone else. And all collision losses are subject to your deductible. Personally I would turn it in on my insurance regardless, I have $250 deductible. But i Would NOT let a dealer mechanic do the repairs. This is a collision repair and should be done by a qualified Body Tech who will have knowledge of how to remove without further damage to the car (Scratches/Alignment of the Bumper when reinstalled etc.)

I suggest everyone read and ask questions regarding their insurance coverage. I constantly read comments on this forum regarding this subject that are totally false. What is a collision loss is one of them. If someone hits you whether you are present or not, it is a Collision loss. And whether your fault or not, most people lie and say it wasn't there fault or they have no idea how it happened, but it is still subject to the deductible.

Not sure what the F yer rambling on about. I simply said not his fault. Go through insurance and pay the deductible.

I know my insurance very well...so save me your preaching.

Genesis can fix this without issue...it’s simply replacing the grill. Did you even take the time to read the OP’s post?

The point I was making was regarding the cost. Expensive because recalibration is needed and that needs to be done by Genesis.

Here you go.. Got this from one of Todd's post. Only for bumper removal.

I believe the grill is attached by screws behind the bumper.

^ thanks, that is great info. i agree it seems the grille is attached to the front bumper cover. so once you remove the entire front bumper cover assembly, you should be able to remove the grille from the bumper with relative ease. this snorkel install does not delve into that since it is irrelevant to the snorkel fitment, but the logic seems to follow.

i had an a*****e back into my grille while i was parked and i'm looking to re+re the grille as well. only i notice the damage - it is very minor and no grille spokes are broken, but i know it'll bug me. luckily my 6MT does not have the front radar & related tech (i.e. no grille radar plate) so it should be a very simple swap for me. no recalibration required. i'll see what the grille part cost is and probably just tackle it myself if the part is cheap enough so i avoid a comprehensive claim.

OP - where did you find the grille part for $300? is there an OE body part website? mine is not the same part # as yours since there is no radar plate thingy so hopefully my part is a bit cheaper...

edit: a local dealer just quoted me $640 + tax for the grille (part # 86350-G9800), and 4 weeks delivery. no bueno.

I don't believe the radar is part of the grill. It's attached to the inside bumper and adjusted independently.

Sorry to bring a thread back from the dead but what recalibration were you referring to? Even if you removed the bumper and grill, i dont think that involves the actual radar. Just asking bc I might do this on my own and not let dealership touch my car.

You are correct. The radar is attached to the aluminum crash bar, not the bumper. The bumper comes off super easy.

We had a member here who removed his entire bumper/grill assembly as a unit when he was monkeying with his intercooler. He did not independently remove sensors or the front radar though. To my knowledge he reinstalled the bumper assembly and plugged everything up and was just fine.

Guess I have to ask the dealership if they can just give me the grill to do the job on my own LOL doubtful. They got it yesterday but earliest I can come in for it is in late May. I also dont trust them a whole lot after my recent fiasco.

I know this is an old post, but I can’t help but reply seeing as how nobody else has said this. “whether it is you fault or not….” You should have claifirs what you meant. It matters if you know who hit you. Then they pay they whole amount with no deductible.
