  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Side Mirrors

Can anyone tell me if the side mirrors tilt down when put in reverse?

Yes, they do, but you have to make sure the mirror selector switch (don't know exactly what it's actually called) is switched to the left. Works every time! It's the switch just above the window controls on the driver's side.

When you shift the shift lever to the R (Reverse) position, the outside rearview mirror(s) will move downward to aid reverse parking. According to the position of the outside rearview mirror switch (1), the outside rearview mirror(s) will operate as follows:
Left - When the remote control outside rearview mirror switch is selected to the left both outside rearview mirrors will move downward.
Right - When the remote control outside rearview mirror switch is selected to the right only the right rearview mirror will move downward.
Neutral :When the remote control outside rearview mirror switch is placed in the middle position, the outside rearview mirrors will not operate.

This feature is standard - I had a problem with mine, in left or right both would move downward. They fixed something faulty and it has worked ever since. Let your service department know if you have any issues.

Mine (2009, Canadian 4.6 Tech) worked like TJPark01 mentioned (left = both, right = right mirror only, neutral = none). After a few months, the behaviour suddenly changed: right position = both, exactly as Dimitry mentioned. Dealer told me this is standard behaviour, but I told them that it worked perfectly fine for the first few months. I am having a hard time convincing them even though the manual states it clearly. Can you tell me what they fixed? I would love to have this feature back, since I don't like it when the drivers side tilts down, but I do like it when the passenger side tilts down.

I don't have the repair order with me, but if they say it's a standard operation, go to any Genesis on the lot and have them check it out. My SA said that it was standard operation until we went over to my loaner Genesis and sure enough, everything worked fine there.

Unfortunately, there a no more '09s left on the lot, and it seems that the 10s now behave the same (left = right = both). I really would appreciate it if you could find out what was fixed as my SA keeps telling me that the Canadian manual is wrong and some of the features in Canadian cars behave like the US cars. I find this very frustrating as I cannot proof that it worked fine for several months.

I don't see what the problem is. Sure, mine works Left = Both and Right = Right, however the important thing is with Left, you still get the right (Both). In my case, I never use the feature, however my wife always uses it for both sides. If both sides work with the switch set to the right, well, so be it. No big deal.

IMHO, that is NOT A PROBLEM, and there are more important "problems" and/or issues that could/will show up. Think of it like this. You are getting more for your money with it working like this.

Bob, I never said it was a big deal. The "small" issue that I am having is to have something that works perfectly as expected and then suddenly stops working and the dealer telling me that it never worked like that. I like the way it worked before. When I back up along the curb, I like to see the curb in my right mirror, but keep a watch out for traffic in my left mirror. If I can have this fixed and somebody like Dimitry is willing to tell me what the problem was and how it was fixed, then I have something to show my SA.
