Hello, I looking for an oil filter for my Gen 3.8 I believe the K&N HP-7035 will work has any one tried it? I found number cross referencing the 2017G80 3.8.
Does anyone do oil changes besides me?

I've got a '19 G80 3.8 and do my own.

I buy them at RockAuto.com, great prices and shipping is worth it if you buy a few things (oil plug gaskets, cabin filters, etc) - the trick is to get them to ship from one facility.

I use the WIX WL10033 for $5.44.

Walmart shows that K&N to be the correct part.

Thanks Tinsley, I saw that listing for the Wix filter also may try it with Mobile 1 full synthetic car has 82k on it.

Good morning, I am getting ready to change my oil for the first time. Looking at using Mobil one 5/30 high mil full synthetic. The dealer use bulk 5/20 Quaker state any suggestions on oil to use?

"Best" depends on your driving condition. That said, any name brand synthetic is good.

I do all my services with 5-30 Mobil 1 and filters from the dealer. The oil and filter are both approved by the dealer. I will not use anything else until the warranty runs out.
The car has not been to the dealer for anything except a botched map update and one recall for the air bag system. I had to fix the map problem myself, they couldn't.

Ed is correct, any full synthetic will work. Your manual should specify the viscosity but 5W-30 is recommended for the 3.8.

If you have a Costco membership you can get their Kirkland oil on sale right now, a case of 12 bottles for $21 shipped to your door. Or two 5 quart jugs for $24, I think. My 3.8 takes about 7.25 quarts.

But yeah, Mobil 1 or Pennzoil Ultra are great oils.

Marcus, buying the car was a month long nightmare. They had the car I wanted listed on the internet. I printed out the page for the car and took it in to Keffer. The car wasn't there, they said it was having the windows tinted. I did all the paper work so no one else could get the car. Now the fun part. The car was not there, It was still at the port somewhere. I got the owner and a regional rep of Genesis that happened to be there that day. The end of the story was they found another car just like it in Brunswick Ga. They worked out a swap with that dealer and my wife and I drove down there and got it. It has only been back to Keffer for a seat belt recall. I waited there and kept my eyes on it the whole time. I was concerned that they may loose it.
I only go there to buy oil filters. I service it myself and it has had no other problems, so no warranty problems.

Thanks getting the honest truth sometimes can difficult. What’s the changing interval you use 5k or 7500 as recommended?

I know you asked pmckechnie, but the interval depends on your driving conditions. If all highway, go 7,500 or one year. If all city, go 3,750 or six months. I don't drive that much (only 5k miles a year) so I split the time and change every 9 months (so far). Most just do six months or 5,000 miles. I may go six months if I feel like it. GDI engines seem to benefit from more frequent changes to reduce sludge buildup in the intake.

I am like TinsleyC. I use 5000 as a base. However if most of the miles are city I will drop down to 2500 miles.
If we go on a long trip, say 7000 miles, I then change it at the 7000 point when we get home. If the car has 2000 and we are going on one of the long trips then I go ahead and change at 2000. and then when we get back.
So what I am saying is I don't have a schedule.
Yes, I am a crazy old man. 78 next month.

I changed my oil last weekend, it had been 9 months and I had 2,600 miles on the oil. My wife's QX50 also had gone 9 months, hers only had 1,600 miles on that time! We are just not driving much with COVID19 in effect and working from home.

This Is Gonna Be A Long Read. I Find It So Hard To See How They Are A Top Hyundai Dealer! I Give Credit Where Its Due They Are Some Friendly Great People There But Every Time I Tried To Give Them My Money They Loose The Opportunity. I'm Young(21) So I've Been Through A Few Cars Throughout My Time Of Learning To Drive Carefully. My First Time Going To Buy & Finance A Car I Went Straight To Them. I've Fell In Love With The Genesis Since The First Gen. So When I Seen A 2010 Genesis 4.6(Always Wanted A V8 So This Was Perfect) I Immediately Gathered All My Paystubs And Went Down To Talk To Someone And See What I Was Looking At For A Down Payment. 1st Sales Guy Ran Everything And Said Come Back With 1k And It Yours I Told Him I Would Back 6 Days Later(April 2019). So That Wednesday Comes Around I Get There New Sales Guys As The Guy Who Helped Me Before Was In The Middle Of A Sale, But Now The Down Payment Was 1.5k But That Was No Problem After All Its The Car I Been Wanting For Years and They Had The Car In Detail For Me. So I Do All The Paperwork Pay The Cashier Get My 30 Day Tag, Now I've Basically Purchased My First Genesis But Not For Long Cause I Ask For A Test Drive Before I Drive Off On My Own. The Test Drive Was Horrible!!!! We Get Back And He Is Going To Get The Service To Take A Look At It, The Suspicion Is The Resprayed The Rims And It Got On The Rotor But It Will Wear Off Soon. The Service Manager Never Even Looked At It The Minute They Brought It To His Attention He Knew That The Car Wasn't Supposed To Be Listed For Sale Cause It Did Pass The Their Pre-sale Inspection. Yet I Been Looking At The Car For Pretty Much A Week Now, It Was Put In Detail Because I Was Coming To Look At It. So Now They Swap It Out For A Nice Azera They Had, I Wouldn't Have Bought That Car But Seeing As They Already Got My Money And Ran My Credit Enough I Forced Myself To Settle. That Was The Worst All Day Affair I've Had At A Dealership!!!

Ive Even Gave Their Sister Dealership A Chance Right1Auto 2 Years Later But They Sold The Car 15 Mins Before My Appntment To Come See The Darn Thing, Then Went Back To Keffer Only For Them To Do It To Me Too. Each Time They Do It Then Try To Launch To Another GenesisMarked Up To 5k More, When They Knew I Was Already Coming In With A Credit Union Pre-approval. I've Learned Not To Waste My Time. Ive Never Had Any Problems Out Of The Service Department Tho I Will Say That. Carvana Is My Go To Place To Purchase Cars Now.

I got my car out of the shop today new RWD shaft installed. $1339.38 it cost to replace after I found the part $291 cheaper than local dealer would offer. the shaft list for $1229.99 I got it for $860.72 plus $78.26 shipping. The local service advisor made the process easy. Had shaft cut open cause something was rattling in it. Low and behold the shaft is not hollow inside like other drive shafts. These or mine has a round metal spacer with rubber bushing in it, one of them came apart to make the noise I heard. See photo.

You need to cut that out of there and post more pics. Torsional damper that's failed? Is there one at each end? I think you've discovered something that no one here had a clue about.

Please post this to one of the noisy driveshaft threads.

Costco's KIrkland full syn can't be beat. I've bought it in the 2-jug box at the warehouse when they re featuring it and in 6- 1qt bottles online when the warehouse isn't carrying it. Currently, it costs about $3 + change per quart.
