  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Sunroof stopped working

So I started this thread on 10/15/20. My car was finally repaired on 2/5/21
Between the lead time to get parts, them trying to figure out what needed to be done, finally scheduling it to be brought in and then them figuring out that they would rather send it to a body shop to have the work done (they had to pull the windshield and drop the headliner to access the sunroof internals) it took almost 4 months to get my sunroof repaired...
That said, they actually only had my G70 for 3 weeks, which is still a bit ridiculous IMO. They did give me a loaner while it was in the shop (2021 2.0 G70). Thankfully my sunroof stopped working while fully closed, and the car was fine to drive, but the ordeal is still frustrating.

The guys at the dealership I go to Genesis of Greer, SC are nice and accommodating so I'm not trying to bash them at all, and it is hard to get parts right now and I understand that, but as stated before, many times, Genesis really missed on setting up their dealer network for success.

The repair seems to have been done right, I can't tell they had to drop the headliner and everything seems good now...hopefully I won't have this issue again or the dreaded rattle....

Your fortunate if the dealer did not screw up something or leave foot prints on your headliner. Several here have had all kinds of tell-tell signs the interior was removed. After a month or two report back if any new squeaks or issues you find after driving more. Sometimes, until summer hits and the interior fully warms up so noises may not show up. Hopefully it’s all good for you. Would be nice to know what failed on your sunroof? The motor actuator, limit switches, or what?

I was told the rollers got jammed in the track and the track failed...whatever that means. Since the body shop did the repair they didn't have the parts on hand for me to look at. They looked at me kind of funny when I asked about the parts...lol. I guess they aren't used to folks who are mechanically inclined asking about failures so we can share the knowledge.
