  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So, my sister gave me her 2012 Genesis which runs after I installed a new battery and changed oil/filter. But now it has a loud knocking or tapping noise coming from the engine.

A mechanic said in passing that the car may need a different engine. Is a rebuilt engine worth it? Worth $5k, assuming it has under 100k mileage?

Also, where do you folk take your cars to for misc electronic issues -- car locks aren't working, LCD screen not displaying anything, dome lights flickering?

Thank you all.

Honestly, you're best off with the dealership to determine what's wrong with the car. With the unique electronics you're best to let them diagnose. Sounds like these could be expensive repairs.

Agree, best advise.
