  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Maybe this has already been covered and I missed it, but
Has anyone installed the set of tips from Korea Auto Parts shown in the pic??
Ad says "professional installation required"..Looks to me like one could cut
the factory tips off and there would be enough factory pipe left to bolt to.

Comments?? THANKS!!

I tried to order these tips from KIA and long story short after 2 months of "where the hell are my exhaust tips", they told me they are no longer available. Funny since they are still listed on their website.

BTW, SUPER OVERPRICED!! Other tips are available the are much higher quality and also much cheaper.

MADMOE, which is another member on this site ordered tips from KIA and they started rusting right away. He returned them.

I will be ordering a new set of tips (that have the offset) from motorsportsauthority....who is also a member on here that can sell quad tips with the offset. You may want to send him a message for prices and pictures.

Here's my thread on what I have for now...

THANKS for the info. I really don't want to change the mufflers as I don't care for the sound of a V6 with loud mufflers. Just looking for tips.
I'll PM motorsportsauthority and get info from him. Thanks again for the info.

BTW, Watched video..yours sounds great..

Thanks:) I pasted the link in the last post so you would be able to see what the stock mufflers look like. Also the size, and all of this is assuming the V6 uses the same mufflers as the V8. I like my MagnaFlow tips, but knew they would be temp until I found a tip that actually fit the Genesis that had the offset.

So many tips that I have looked at are 9-12 inches long. That's too long for the Genesis and will stick out.

Motorsportsauthority says the tips are 6-7 inches long. Perfect:)

Scott,

Thanks for the "tip".. Got hold of motorsportsauthority and tips are ordered...

Tips sent. Enjoy.

Ok, Got the tips from Motorsportsauthority and the shipping was lightning fast and the quality is superb. Got them installed yesterday, photos attached. They attract a lot of attention, pulled into the Hyundai dealer today to pick up an ipod cable and came out to find three salesmen gawking at the exhaust and the re-badge, and of course I got the third degree about the tips.

A few comments about the install are in order. I have chosen to use the stock mufflers on the car as I'm a geezer and I like quiet. When received, the tips have a pipe several inches long on the rear. In measuring the tips it was discovered it would be necessary to cut off the pipe all the way up to the point the tips "Y". With the pipe cut off and the tips welded directly to the rear of the mufflers, I feel they still stick out about an inch too far. I think they are usable as is, but would look better about an inch shorter. If you choose to use these tips (and I do recommend them) I would advise a set of after market mufflers that are a bit shorter than stock. I might look around for some other quiet mufflers myself.

Looks great! I just received mine today also! Can't wait to get'em installed. I'll be selling my MagnaFlow tips if anyone is interested.....

I would love to hear what the V6 sounds like with an exhaust system etc. I think it would sound good:)

I have the MagnaFlow tips and exhaust on mine. I think the secret to good looking tips is to have the two "inward" tip ends flush with the bumper no matter which brand you buy.

I think the dual tips look great but I'm having trouble with the drone with low speed acceleration. From the outside of the car the sound is great and I do notice an increase in power due lack of backpressure but the drone is challenging below 2,500 RPMs. I have my stock exhausts on standby and if I change them back I'll just weld my tips onto the stock pipes. The MagnaFlow exhaust does get quieter each week as the inside holes get filled with carbon and crap so I'll give it another two weeks before I make a command decision. The drone, when it occurs, also cancels out the low end frequency range on the sound system so that bothers me too. A possible solution might be sound proofing the trunk.

At cruise speed on the freeway this exhaust setup "rocks".

I removed the Magnaflow mufflers yesterday as I could not stand stand the drone any longer. I don't sound cool anymore but at least I can hear the fabulous radio. The dual exhaust tips weld on easily to the stock pipes. Someone in an earlier post said the exhaust pipes could not handle new tips. They can. No problem.

This is a stupid question, but what is a drone. By the way I wonder would flow masters sound like on the V6. I just want a little horse power noise when I accelerate. I heard they come in different levels

I think a performance muffler would sound great on the V6 as well.

Flowmaster makes multiple muffers for different appllications.

The 50 series would be a good fit for many people. It's the quitest muffler they make. Here's the link to the page for more info.

LOL... Here's a close up. Notice the little CIA sticker at the upper left corner.

Sounds like you have a cool girlfriend!

Yes, I served.. While back. 1989 to 1993. Mechanized Infantry. Delta Co 3/7 Infantry, based out of Fort Stewart Ga.
Was in Saudi/Iraq for 9 months, first Gulf War.
Definitely saw action, but nothing compared to what these kids are seeing and dealing with now. At least the guys we fought were wearing uniforms. There was soldiers and civilians back in that war. Not you never know.

You're welcome... I'm grateful to those who have served or are serving as well. :)

I finally got my new tips put on that I puchased from Motorsportsauthority, and I think they are a HUGE inprovement over the MagnaFlow tips I had put on a year ago.

They fit the exhaust tip cut-out much better and do not stick out too far as the MagnaFlow tips did.

The installer just cut off part of each tip (part the gets welded to the outlet on the muffler) about a half in or a little more, for a better fit. He says that the tips should stick out a little to enable the exhaust to come "out and up" avoiding any fumes entering the vehicle.

The tech also mentioned that he really want to take off the factory resenator which he thinks if removed would give the car an even better tone compared to my setup, but I know removing that would also make the exhaust louder.

Anyone want to buy my MagnaFlow set, possibly for another car you have?
