  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi all,

Last week I took my car (3.3 G70 2019) for servicing. They said the alignment was off through their machine and afterwards, when driving, I could feel the car "kicking out" or some slight instability when accelerating.

Its mostly after accelerating (even at low speeds) and then letting off on the gas it kinda 're-aligns'.

I went back to the dealer and dropped the car off. The service tech said everything was fine with driving. I came back and took the service manager in the car and pointed out what I felt. He agreed that he felt that. The service tech went in as well and felt it also and said 'normal variant... RWD car etc".

My car has 18k on it and I never felt anything like this before in the car. Any ideas on what to do? I asked them to test drive another G70 and see if they feel that too, I dont know if I'm being weird.

Thanks

What kind of accelerating? Youve done the same exact type of accelerating before and after the alignment and it feels different?

It would be normal for our RWD cars to lose a bit of traction during initial hard acceleration feeling like the ass end of the car moves around a bit before the LSD figures things out, you hook up and go.

As my tires have aged, it happens more and more easily which is another note to consider.

What you are describing is one of the reasons I bought this car with the 3.3. The 2.0t will make this go away.

How hard do you accelerate and what tires are on the car?

Very light accelerating. Just basic, comfort mode accelerating. Low speeds even, like 0-30 accelerate and let go. I figured it could be a tire thing and asked them if I should get new tires and they said "tires are fine"

This does not sound normal

Oil/grease on tires?

First question I would ask is how far is the alignment off and why? Did something get bent or installed incorrect from the factory?

My question too. Unless really high mileage or you hit something, would not expect a 2019 car to need alignment. Did they only adjust front end, or a 4 wheel alignment? Did they provide a printout of the settings after aligning? Alignments have a tolerance so would be interesting if the settings are nominal or more toward one end of the other of allowances?

Depending on km a 2019 is overdue for an alignment after 2 plus years imo. I would expect it to be out.

I wonder if the issue has something to do with one of the steel belt in the tyre went...unusual but that had happened to my friend some time ago.

Switch to Sport or Sport plus. Comfort memics soft suspension of an old Buick.

Sounds like the Steering Angle Sensor wasn't recalibrated properly after the alignment.
