  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi All. New to the forum and looking for some tips and tricks. Hit a racoon the other night and it cracked/damaged my front bumper for my 2016 Genesis. I've replaced bumpers before on my own using parts from paintedautobodyparts.com which have always been very good. The question I have is my version has the headlight washers. Is there anything special I need to do when taking the bumper off for the washers?

TIA
Mike

Be careful not to tear the hose connection on the driver's side. Your electrical connection is also there.

Also you'll be wanting to get the headlight eyebrows (combo rivet job if you want to scavenge old ones), new locking sawtooth clips for the foam holders (2x), and potentially the whole lower grille/trim and screw kits. Hyundai made this bumper a BEAR to replace, the replacement is guaranteed to be warped and you'll need to carefully apply hot air to straighten out the top part (sometimes it has creases). Depending on your skill level the upper gasket may be salvageable, but I'd just buy another too.

Did I mention lots of rivets? You'll be wanting to dremel split the ones on the top of the bumper. The plastic won't handle drilling directly.

Thanks. I've had really good luck with the site I get the bumper from having replaced a Mazda 6's twice and a chevy traverse once. All three bumpers fit perfectly with no warping or bending on it. I was hoping to find a youtube video, but all the ones posted don't have the washer component on them and just wondering how that works with the popout part. How that gets transitioned to the new bumper.

They are snapped into the back of the bumper via hot welded brackets (I think there's a single screw). Be gentle, the cap on the washer head is fragile.

It's not the part site's fault the bumper is improperly shipped by Ecoplastic (Hyundai's injection molding factory). They use a gigantic box that's all air with a bubble wrapped bumper at the bottom. No framing of any sort to support the insides or the bumper. I don't think I've ever seen one that didn't at least look like this coming out (even your supplier's own image looks like this):

But hey, what can you ask for on a bumper that costs $110 in Korea?
