  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

GV80 Side Steps / Running Boards

I got the running boards because the GV sits high, and it is hard for my dogs to get in and out. Unfortunately, the boards are not wide enough; the dogs are not using them to help. So, I am doing some MacGyver style thinking trying to come up with a "shelf" that I can slide on to the board, and then remove and stick behind the driver seat while driving.

WOW, they look nice. Thank you for sharing a picture. I was going to wait to see if an electronic sidestep becomes available .. but not too much longer

you can order them from korea..

If everything goes right I’ll be picking mine up on Wednesday. I’ll wait and see if I think they’re needed. I know when I test drove the car it seemed to sit a little high but my partner didn’t think so (and he’s shorter than me!). I personally like the looks of them.

This will be our first SUV since 1994. I’ve fought to not to be a lemming, but, the GV80 is the first SUV I really like, and it didn’t feel like a school bus to drive!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Bought the Sidesteps through the dealership. Be aware that I noticed that the price varies slightly between different dealers. I think retail is about $700 and wholesale is about $560 and takes about 2 business days to receive. I can get you wholesale prices if you want to pick up 45 minutes north of Los Angeles. My mechanic friend charges $250 for installation if anyone is interested.
I’m interested in the sidesteps. Do you know how I can get them? Thanks.

No. Genesis OEM parts. I installed the mug guards. Took me 30 min.
Did you have to remove the wheels and/or do any drilling?

I installed mud flaps on my 1994 Volvo wagon and it was a pain. Had to remove all wheels and drill; took forever. But that was back in my younger days when I enjoyed doing things like that. Used to even change my own oil at one time. But not anymore. Still enjoy waxing and polishing, though. It's my yoga, so to speak.

Now that you've lived with the running boards for a while do you find them useful or are they too narrow to actually use to get in vehicle? Although I like the looks of them, I'm afraid I wouldn't actually use them.

most people dont "use" them , they add another layer of protection from road grime and look good , if you use them its primarily for dealing with a roof rack issues , I've had them on every SUV I've owned and they are a nice addition

NO, is not needed to remove the wheels or to drill. it is very easy to install them.
I am attaching the install instructions for front and back mud guards here.
