  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I’ve read the discussion forums regarding the troubles with XM radio and last week finally cancelled my trial subscription to eliminate the radio lockup’s, but his is new...
Just bought this G80 Sport (2018j a few weeks ago and today, driving home the Shark Fin cover just fell off while driving. Anyone experienced this before?

Sort of.
I bought a 2015 Cadenza last year. While checking it over, I tugged on the shark fin because I had planned to go through a car wash. It was very loose, and the cover came off in my hand. All the plastic bosses that held it on where broken, like in your picture. I used copper safe silicone calk to glue the cover back on. So far, it is still on very firmly and working fine.
Last month, I also bought a 2018 G80. Of course, the shark fin was one of the first things I checked. It is loose at the back left corner. I assume that two of the bosses have broken. I am keeping an eye on it. I'll do the silicone trick with it when it gets worse. I could try a warranty claim, but I don't know if I want the local dealer taking the headliner down to replace it. I'm afraid they may not get it back quite right.

I’ve heard of it happening even in other brands.

The same exact thing happened to my cousin on his 2015 Genesis. He’s still looking for a replacement part without buying the whole unit. No luck so far.

I have no idea about the problem but, thanks for the photo. I was wondering what was in there so it was informative.

It was the shark's way of telling you your car needs to be washed. I have the same problem when pollen mixes with raindrops at this time of year. Have you had the fin replaced?

In the OP's photo of the "base" part of the antenna, the part that remained attached to the roof, what is that tall thing that sticks up at the rear of the circuit board? Kinda yellow colored with a light colored strip all around it?

When mine came off in the car wash, this tall thing must have come off too. What does it do?

Until I'm able to determine how to fix it, I have the fin secured with a large piece of clear tape. I haven't noticed any degradation in Sirius performance or GPS failure.
