  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My 2012 3.8 Premiere Genesis sedan feels like it’s
running on five cylinders for the first 15-20 seconds.

Is it throwing a code? I’m assuming you are getting some vibration you feel with a rough running engine? At start up I think the ECM has not fully taken control of engine sensors until certain sensors come on line with warm up. We run on a somewhat pre-programmed start up routine for the first 30 seconds or so and then sensors and ECM takes over for engine management. Sounds like once yours comes online, your engine settles down? Check plugs to see how they look. If your not getting a code for misfire or something and your plugs still look good, not sure what the issue might be? Could just replace all plugs and get that out of the way as a possible problem.

No codes. Think you’d be right about the start up routine.
Thanks for the feedback👍

What do you mean? Like it vibrates more and idle RPM is higher than usual normal? My Gen first couple minutes idle rpm is above 1000!

I have a Nissan 3.5SL that sometimes could only starts on 5 cylinders and throws code. The ride would be really rough. Weirdly it's only sometimes. I just erase the code, let it warm up well and back to normal.
